Types of Internships Why ... Student Internships Students from various academic backgrounds involved in studies at the High School, College, University or post educational levels can benefit greatly by undertaking the opportunities that Student Internships offer. When a student considers placement within an Internship it opens a number of doors for them to gain credits, practical hands-on experience in a field of interest for further study or as a future career. It can also serve to assist the Co-Operative student with a valuable way to achieve hours necessary to fulfill graduation requirements. Many Universities and Colleges offer internships regularly in order that students will have a viable means of gaining certain skills and for those who need them, to earn credits that may help to complete or further their studies. Student Internships can be quite competitive because only a few such openings normally exist at any one time and the positions that are available often follow a schedule based upon the academic school year. Although most of these opportunities are usually considered volunteer, some internships offer students the possibility to earn while they learn. Well established internships are available within a wide range of disciplines including the Medical field, Hospitality, Scientific Research Labs, Governmental offices, small, medium and large businesses, corporations and non-profit sectors to name a few. | |
