Sufism is the mystical dimension of Islam but does not attach itself to any particular religion, it embraces all. which is all about leaving plurality to merge with the ultimate singularity, the Oneness of God. Sufi yearn for the love of God and has no desire except the Divine Love. Where orthodox Islam arguably does not encourage music, Sufis has used it as an instrument to spread the message of love, delf development and spiritual learning all over the world.

From Momodou HASSAN.
Dear Friend,
This message might meet you in utmost surprise. However, it's just my urgent need for a foreign partner that made me to contact you for this transaction. I got your contact from internet search while I was searching for a foreign partner.
I am Mr. Momodou HASSAN , a banker by profession in Burkina-Faso, West African and currently holding the post of secretary to foreign remittance director in our bank. I need your urgent assistance in transferring the left over funds of Nine Million, Seven Hundred Thousand Dollars ($9.7 Million Dollars) belonging to our late customer who died along with his entire family during the Iraq crisis on October 2006. The deceased customer used his wife as the next of kin but unfortunately the wife died alongside with him leaving nobody for the claim.

THE SUFI CONFERENCE
The idea for the Sufi Conferences was conceived one summer evening in 1999 at Sufi Books in New York. We felt a need to share this mysticism of love, and to create a space where people could experience the different forms of Sufism. The joy, intoxicating love and power experienced in the first two conferences in 2001 resonated with this need. Something was born, a container of love for different Sufi orders to come together. Since 2001 we have held eight Sufi Conferences, the final gathering being held in October 2008 at Asilomar Conference Grounds, California. In his closing talk Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee spoke of the deeper purpose of these gatherings. This coming together of different Sufi tariqas and fellow wayfarers has been a celebration of the love and oneness that belongs to this path of love. But there has also been a deeper, more hidden purpose. Although outwardly there have been eight different conferences, from an inner, spiritual perspective there had been one single Sufi Conference that has changed outer location and form over the years, but remained the same gathering. At the first gathering a symbolic dervish tent was erected, a sacred space where these different traditions and lovers of God could come together in service to the One and the need of the time. This tent was moved across America a number of times, and different presenters and participants came under this tent, to remember God through

The Original Cabala, the Cabala of Eight Elements, the Sufi Cabala
One of the best known metaphysical systems that purports to give a comprehensive explanation of reality, including its origin and man's place in it, is the Cabala, which is a large body of teaching - more diverse than most of its contemporary students probably realize - that is almost without exception identified as of Jewish origin, although even within that assumption opinions differ as to whether it dates from the time of Moses, or from even before that, or, rather, from medieval Europe. In Origins of the Kabbalah , Gershom Scholem describes the question of the Cabala's origin and the initial phases of its development as second only to the destruction of the Second Temple in the sense of being problematic within the context of the history of Judaism. By no means, he asserts, have the source materials received adequate attention, and he indicates that a reason for that is that they are all but bereft of material that can be thought of as historical in the sense of shedding any light on those origins or their circumstances. The symbol with which the Cabala is most widely associated is the one sometimes called the Tree of Life, which consists of ten words, representing powers, essences, archetypes, or aspects of divinity called

Book Reviews The origin of the name Sufi probably goes back to the term suf , which refers to imple woolen cloaks. The original Sufi were basically mystics - people who followed a pious form of Islam and who believed that a direct, personal experience of God could be achieved through meditation and self-discipline. Sufism is important to the development of Islam because it is in this tradition that the more spiritual and mystical aspects were preserved. This stands in contrast to the mainstream of Islam which, through its first centuries, was more concerned with the expansion and organization of the general community. Over time, of course, Sufism became institutionalized, and individual mystics attracted groups of students and followers who learned to follow the mystic's path, or tariqa. The tariqa is a set of mental and even physical exercises designed to aid in the development of communion with God.

The Violent Truth Behind The Sufi Mask
Following is a presentation of excerpts taken from Sita Ram Goel's works. M any Hindus have been misled, mostly by their own soft-headed scholars, to cherish the fond belief that the Sufis were spiritual seekers, and that unlike the Mullahs, they loved Hindu religious lore and liked their Hindu neighbours. The Chistiyya Sufis in particluar have neem chosen for such fulsome praise. The orthodox among the Muslims protest that the Sufis are being slandered. But the Hindus remains convinced that they themselves know better. Professor Aziz Ahmad is a renowned scholar of Islam in India. He clinches the matter in the following words : "In Indian sufism anti-Hindu polemics started with Muinal-din Chisti. Early sufis in Punjab and early Chistis devoted themselves to the task of conversion on a large scale. Missionary activity slowed down under Nizam al-din Auliya, not because of any new concept of eclecticism, but because he held that the Hindus were generally excluded from grace and could not be easily converted to Islam unless they had the opportunity to be in the company of the Muslim saints for considerable time." Of course, the Auliya who lived in a sprawling khanqah and re- ceived rich gifts out of plunder was convinced that he himself was such a Muslim saint. His temper and teachings can be known easily from die, writings of Amir Khusru, the poet, and Ziauddin Barani, the historian. Both of them were leading disciples of the Auliya. Both of them ex- press a great hatred for Hindus, and regret that the Hanafl school of Islamic Law had come in the way of wiping out completely the

    About Us
Welcome to the Home Page of the Sufi Order of Austin Heart of the Message Center! Our goal is personal transformation: we seek a balanced, harmonious and creative life free from the illusion of separation from the One. We look for new ways to apply the spiritual ideals of love, harmony and beauty to the challenges and opportunities of everyday life. At the same time we continue an age-old mystical tradition. We seek to serve God and humanity by helping to relieve suffering, promoting understanding and acceptance among followers of different faiths, and encouraging the unfoldment of universal loving kindness. Sufism is not easily defined, for it is neither an established religion nor a doctrine. It is not made up of a body of dogma which one must follow, and it does not require its constituents to rely upon specific, prescribed rituals or techniques as a part of spiritual practice. It is not distinctive of any particular race, nation, or church; it has existed across cultures, over centuries. Sufism is a way of looking at the world and a way of living in the world. Rather than requiring withdrawal from the world, Sufism practices immersion in life, bringing one's highest ideals into everyday practice. It is a way for humanity to awaken to the abundance of life, both individually and collectively, in every area of human enterprise. Sufism is a contemporary response to the needs of the time and culture within which it exists.
