Professional Standards Teacher Certification Alternative Certification Troops to Teachers Home The Professional Standards Section ensures that educators are properly credentialed and provides technical assistance to school districts, teachers, and college administrators in the area of teacher certification. Its mission is to provide quality service toward the certification of educators. Effective July 1, 2009, licenses and certificates will be $50.00 and both will be valid for 5 years. This change includes renewals. The fee to print a duplicate or a license/certificate with a name or degree change will be $25.00. All degree changes require official transcripts. Our director, Sharon Fikes, created ECAP after 11 years as the director of Alternative Certification at the Education Service Center, Region XI. At ESC, Region XI Sharon opened one of the first state-based alternative certification programs in Texas.
