Om terrorism
Leo Trotskij (November 1911)
This article originally appeared in the November 1911 issue of Der Kampf , the theoretical monthly of the Austrian Social Democracy, withy the title On Terrorism . Trotsky wrote it at the request of Friedrich Adler, the editor of Der Kampf , as a response to the terrorist moods that were spreading among elements of the Austrian working class. Ur Marxism och Terrorism Thanks to from whose homepage this text has been copied July 2000 with kind permission.

General Information About Terrorism
Terrorism is the use of force or violence against persons or property in violation of the criminal laws of the United States for purposes of intimidation, coercion, or ransom. Terrorists often use threats to:
  • Create fear among the public. Try to convince citizens that their government is powerless to prevent terrorism. Get immediate publicity for their causes.
Acts of terrorism include threats of terrorism; assassinations; kidnappings; hijackings; bomb scares and bombings; cyber attacks (computer-based); and the use of chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological weapons. High-risk targets for acts of terrorism include military and civilian government facilities, international airports, large cities, and high-profile landmarks. Terrorists might also target large public gatherings, water and food supplies, utilities, and corporate centers. Further, terrorists are capable of spreading fear by sending explosives or chemical and biological agents through the mail. Within the immediate area of a terrorist event, you would need to rely on police, fire, and other officials for instructions. However, you can prepare in much the same way you would prepare for other crisis events.

Brief Therapy Focused on Lasting Results
Talking with Children about Acts of Terrorism
By Dr. Lois Nightingale It is almost incomprehensible that hundreds, if not thousands, of children will be grieving not having a parent come home after the tragedy of Sept 11, 2001. The families who must explain the horrific events that have taken Mommy or Daddy away forever, will never be fully able to give satisfactory answers to these children who will be impacted for the rest of their lives. But what about the millions of children watching these disasters on the news and hearing their friends and teachers talk about them at school and on the playground? Who will try to explain intentional acts of violence to these children? Probably their parents. What can a parent say to try to bring some order to absolutely senseless destructive events? The following are guidelines to help parents talk with children about the horrific images and catastrophic events about which children will be asking.
  • Be respectful of children's feelings.

Defines and investigates the nature of terrorism, as well as related links.
    http://www.angelfire.com/ca7/Security/TERRORISM.html
One verision of the definition of terrorism is " the calculated use of violence or the threat of violence to introduce fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological." DEFINITIONS
This definition was carefully made to distinguish between terrorism and other kinds of violence. The act of terrorism is defined and very independent of the cause that motivates it. People employ terrorist violence in the name of many causes. The tendency to label as terrorism any violent act of which we do not approve is wrong. Terrorism is a specific kind of violence. There are many different variations of the definition of terrorism. Today, there is no universally accepted definition of terrorism. Countries define the term according to their own beliefs and to support their own national interests. International bodies, when they craft a definition, do so in the interests of their member states. Academics striving to define terrorism are also subject to their own political points of view Click Here for Many More Definitions TERROR TYPES
There are different types of terrorism throughout the world, but the U.S classifys these groups into three basic catagories. These are, International Terrorist Groups,Transnational Terrorist Groups, and Domestic Terrorist Groups. We are now breaking these groups into just two. State sponsered and non-state sponsered.
