The TExES exam assesses teacher certification in the state of Texas. The Texas Examination of Educator Standards, or TExES, was designed to ensure that beginning teachers are properly trained in their content areas as well as in teaching and learning styles. The TExES test measures a candidate's knowledge against a general standard rather than against the performance of other candidates. In order to register for the TExES exam, a candidate must receive approval from their Educator Preparation Program. Candidates can register for the TExES exam by visiting the State Board for Educator Certification, or SBEC, website. Candidates must use the SBEC website to create and educator profile containing their name, phone number, address, and e-mail address.
