The Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW) in particular have become increasingly common household terms as evidenced by the wealth of references to them in the popular media and on television programs in the US. The popularity of the WWW has spread to the educational community as well. The Internet is increasingly being used as an educational tool in K-12 schools with access. There is a sharp increase in the number of schools connected to the Internet. Professional development opportunities for teachers to learn to use the Internet are ever increasing and the number of books that specialize in educational resources on the Internet are filling bookshelves. Recently Cyberschools are coming online under the auspices of public school districts. Online courses are being conducted for K-12 students. One can safely predict that in the short term larger number of teachers are going to grapple with effective ways of integrating the Internet into the classroom. " The Internet and the countless possibilities associated with the Internet are quickly reshaping the way we conduct business, and redefining the way we relate to one another" (

STATE STANDARDS All Instructional Technology efforts in support of district objectives and initiatives are guided by the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Technology Applications K-12 AISD utitlizes TEKS in the development and implementaion of the Technology Applications curriculum integrated into core content subject areas and Instructional Planning Guides.
The integrated AISD Technology Applications curriculum, K-8, is supprted by a variety of instructional resources. Primary among these resources is EasyTech by learning.com. This resource serves as an electronic online textbook to supplement and enhance the delivery of instruction o the Technology Applications TEKS in K-8 within core content subject matter. Additionally EasyTech lessons and modules are available in K-5 in Spanish for AISD students who speak Spanish as a second or primary language. Furthermore, AISD students in grades 2,5 and 8 are assessed annually for their proficiency with technology as required by the state (TEKS) and national stands . AISD utilizes a variety of methods to determine students and staff needs in regard to technology. One of the primary methods for collecting quantitative data about these technology needs is the
