Ms. Harrod is a theatre enthusiast who enjoys participating in CASC theatre productions and directing whenever time permits. She has performed in four CASC theatre productions since she has been here, "Lysistrata," directed by Paula Reif; "Steel Magnolias," "A Streetcar Named Desire," and "Look Homeward, Angel," all three directed by Bill Day. In the summer of 2002, Ms. Harrod had the pleasure of performing in a Readers Theatre at NSU. The historical play, Remember , was written and directed by her sister (and former CASC graduate) Amanda Harrod-Spangler and is about individuals who were impacted by the Holocaust. In the summer of 2000, Ms. Harrod directed two productions for the Upward Bound Drama Class. One was a classical rendition of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." The other was an original adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet," written by the students, called "What Really Happened in the Oval Office." Ms. Harrod is always looking for fresh

    THE NAKED TRUTH
Intro Tourlist This smash-hit comedy returns for its FIFTH fantastic tour in autumn 2010, starring Maureen Nolan and Claire King (Emmerdale) leading an all-star cast. Set in a pole dancing class (the latest get-fit craze) 'The Naked Truth' is a brilliantly funny comedy about sisterhood that has had people on their feet all over the UK. It's a women thing, as five very different women struggle hilariously to conquer pole dancing for an event to raise awareness and money for a breast cancer charity.
As their stories unfold and unravel, they share laughter and tears in this hilarious, sad and ultimately moving Play. The Naked Truth is a poignant and uplifting comedy, a call to all women, and celebrating strength through adversity. Its a Show for women, about women, that men absolutely must see (if they dare!).

What follows is a rollicking and ribald collection of songs, revelations and observations of "being of a certain age." Granted, Alexander Herzen, Michael Bakunin and Vissarion Belinsky are not exactly household names even to the most committed contemporary theatergoer. And spirited discourse on Hegelian dialectic, no matter how impassioned, lacks the comfortable predictability of joke-swapping "Producers" or Lea Salonga shimmying her way through "Flower Drum Song". Yet, household, and all the images this word conjures up, of nucleus, of family, of community, forms the core of Tom Stoppard's ambitious new trilogy of plays, gathered under the umbrella title The Coast of Utopia and given a sparkling debut at the National's Olivier Theatre. Like "The Invention of Love", "Arcadia", and a number of other titles in the lengthy and impressive Stoppard canon, Utopia is potential debilitatingly dry historical fact brought to vibrant, human and often very humorous life by the playwright's singular genius for character insight and astonishing repartee.

    Tom Stoppards Trilogy Utopia
    August 21, 2002
Great Minds Talk Volumes as Mortality Intervenes
    By BEN BRANTLEY
The words are spoken by a dapper Russian landowner and patriarch, seated at the end of a well-appointed dinner table in 1833. The suggestion is that you have come upon the characters onstage in mid-conversation and that the conversation is likely to continue. That is a monumental understatement. During the more than nine hours required to perform all three of its parts, "The Coast of Utopia" takes the love of a good argument to spectacular extremes unknown in the theater since the heyday of George Bernard Shaw. The explosive, eloquent characters in the beautifully acted production of Mr. Stoppard's new work, which has been directed in bravura style by Trevor Nunn, are not making small talk. "The Coast of Utopia" has received courteous but very mixed reviews here, with "ambitious" looming admiringly and damningly. Yet on the single Saturday on which I saw all three plays (a time commitment of roughly 12 hours, allowing for bolted meals at the National's coffee bars), there were cancellation lines for every show. And as far as I could tell, no one failed to return after any of the intermissions, although I heard a few people grumbling about Stoppard's penchant for overwriting. "The Coast of Utopia" deserves to be popular, though not for the reasons you might expect. It's not that the play's historical insights, which in truth aren't all that original, are good for you, like a high-fiber diet for the brain. Or that the Stoppardian epigrams (planted amid some frankly tedious speech making) sparkle.
