In the early morning hours of May 27, a large Mesoscale Convective Complex developed over Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas . A "gravity wave" or outflow boundary was generated by this system and stalled out over Central Texas. This was oriented from the northeast to the southwest, causing the movement of the supercells later on to be to the southwest, which is extremely unusual. Also unusual on this day was the low shear and extreme instability.

Two weeks after the F5 tornado in Jarrell, Texas
I was able to go there to do some relief work. photos and text by Roger Sadler
All of the houses were totally blown away by the F5 tornado and all that remained were empty slabs. The neighborhood roads wound around to empty foundations. The damaged area had a definite beginning and end. On the edge of the disaster, houses remained standing, minus windows and much of their roofs.

A Tornado Hits Chak Misran-A Village Of Valley Soan-Skacer- PAKISTN
By
Khan, Azmat Hayat On 26th March, 2001 (1530LT), a tornado produced surface winds greater than 65 kts in Chak Misran village near Bhalwal area. This storm was much stronger-appearing on radar compared to a sqall-line of intense storms during late winter season. This paper documents the structure of this storm, as reflected by charts and visualized by satellite data. Synoptic History: March is the peak month of spring season and sufficient isolation towards end of month combined with polar continental air over upper parts of country results high degree of instability and produce violent thunderstorms.
On 28th March, at 0500PST, continental air was penetrating into northern half of country. Also there was sufficient moisture influx from Arabian Sea upto 18000 ft. Right from surface to 18000 ft, charts depicted some what intense circulation over central Punjab with centre near Sargodha area that acted as a vortex of southwest relatively warm-moist currents and cold continental air from north-northwest.

Tornados:

94. What Creates A Tornado?
Find out nature s recipe for creating a tornado and why the United States is the tornado capital of the world.
http://www.pa.msu.edu/~sciencet/ask_st/081397.html
What creates a tornado?
(Lansing State Journal, August 13, 1997) Recently, several tornado warnings and one tornado have hit our area. What is the recipe for a tornado? The ingredients are: a big thunderstorm; winds blowing from opposite directions; and a strong updraft. Strong updrafts surge up through storm clouds causing the cloud tops to bubble up and subside. A tornado can form when the air in these updrafts begins to rotate as opposing winds cause the storm to start spinning. This whirling mass of air and cloud is called a vortex and the spinning column of air within the vortex is called a mesocyclone. The air pressure in the center of the vortex drops as more air is sucked into it, although at the present time scientists do not know just how low the air pressure can get within the center of the vortex. As the mesocyclones get stronger they begin to shrink and spin faster. The familiar funnel shape of a tornado develops as the air pressure in the center of the vortex drops. As more and more air gets drawn into the funnel it accelerates upwards and the funnel stretches. Tornado Trivia: Wind speeds within a tornado may reach 600 miles per hour, and objects picked up by a tornado hurtle around it at the same speed. The United States is the tornado capital of the world with an average of 700 tornadoes per year. The U.S. has this many tornadoes because of west winds. Winds from the west are forced to stream over the Rocky Mountains. On the other side these winds encounter the low, warm, moist winds from the Gulf of Mexico. These two air masses collide over the central U.S and provide the possibility for tornado development. That's why Kansas had more than 1200 tornadoes from 1953 to 1980 while Alaska only had one.
