    Tobago Culture
In the Caribbean island of Tobago you'll find more than swaying palms and sun-kissed beaches. When you visit this historic island, you'll enjoy a cultural feast, rich in folklore, music and dance, inspired by the African heritage of Tobago's inhabitants. Every year, from mid-July to early August, the Tobago Heritage festival moves from village to village, celebrating the island's fascinating culture, customs and traditions.
    Folklore
Tobago has many folk tales and superstitions unique to the island. One such tale is that of Gang Gang Sarah, an African witch who flew to Tobago. After spending some time on the island the witch tried to return home but found she had lost the power of flight after eating too much salt. Her grave can be found in the village of Culloden.
    Dance
Dance is a cornerstone of Tobago's culture. Many of the island's distinct dances, like the Reel and Jig are British in origin but with movements influenced by the Africans. Performed by a couple or group, the Reel and Jig is reminiscent of an intricate courtship dance. Speech Bands also dance, with sharp, cutting strokes of a sword the key movement. Ceremonial dances associated with the African tribes brought to Tobago as slaves are also performed.

Circle Dancing - Sashay Maypole Dance on May Day
May Day, May 1st, also called Beltane (Bright Fire) by the Anglo-Saxons, notes the beginning of the growing season. Circle dancing or a Maypole Dance, - or May Pole dance as it is also written - joins us hand-in-hand in a group celebration of joy, merriment and thanksgiving! For another version of a Maypole Dance with using polka steps click here , and for a Maypole dance using skipping click here
Music, rhythm instruments or singing are all appropriate accompaniments.
The tune to "Three Blind Mice" is fun to use!
I have choreographed this circle dance or its variation of Maypole Dance so the action changes every 16 counts. The number of counts can be adapted to the music or song, to coincide with the end of a phrase.
No dance or musical training is necessary; loose clothing is best and shoes are okay. Just a memory: when I was growing up in the middle Atlantic states the girls wore white dresses with full skirts for the Maypole Dance. Circle or Maypole Dance To begin

Different Choices in Trinidad Lodging
Trinidad is among the most popular vacation destinations. It offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy its spectacular natural beauty and its unique and unforgettable cultural experiences. In addition, Trinidad has a wide range of accommodations to suit every budget and taste. One of the distinguishing characteristics of Trinidad lodging is that it has far fewer hotels and resorts as compared to the other Caribbean islands. However, the small number is in no way reflective of the quality. Some of the accommodation is of excellent standards and can be compared to the finest. The hotels and resorts range from reasonably priced lodges and inexpensive budget hotels to luxurious, exclusive hotels. Trinidad also offers visitors a wide choice of guesthouses and inns. All-inclusive hotels and resorts Besides conventional hotels that offer traditional services, Trinidad also has several hotels and resorts that offer all-inclusive services and package deals of different types for the convenience of holiday makers. These package deals are often more affordable as compared to other Trinidad lodging where tourists are billed separately for lodging, food and any other facility that they may wish to use. Getting one consolidated all-inclusive bill can help you enjoy a stress-free holiday without have to worry about incurring expenses for each and every luxury that you may want to indulge in while you are on vacation. Trinidad hotels offer a wide range of package deals. Before you choose any one of them, it is always better to make enquiries at several hotels and find out what is included in their package and how much you will have to pay.

Enter your search terms Submit search form To those of you who tried unsuccessfully to view major events for this year’s carnival season via “TRINITV.NET”, we wish to state that TRINITV.NET was not responsible for streaming the 2010 carnival events. This was done by CNMG through their website “CTNTWORLD.COM”. Trinitv simply provided access to their stream for those of our customers who were already familiar with our site. In past times we, along with a partner website, implemented a small charge for viewing specific events, however, CTNTWORLD.COM came into being, spending government money, decided to stream the same events for free, forcing us out of the live streaming business for carnival. Now that we are out of it because we cannot match their uncapped capital, this year, they implemented a charge for specific events; a plan similar to what we implemented years ago, the only difference is that we charged much less. Their plan backfired, since they were misled about the capacity of their servers. Some people who paid to view the events were unable to logon because their servers were not able to authenticate the traffic, thereby prompting demands for refund.
