CULTURE Turkish culture, rich in Ottoman and folkloric elements, is traditional and modern. Turkish carpet weaving is one of the oldest crafts in the world. Ceramics and other Ottoman-era crafts retain their varied regional character. Modern Turkish cultural life dates from the 1923 founding of the republic and early efforts to Westernize Turkish society. As a result, the arts, literature, drama, and classical and contemporary music have flourished. State support of cultural activities is extensive and encompasses a national network of theaters, orchestras, opera and ballet companies, university fine arts academies, and various conservatories. Public funds also are used to provide partial support for private theater groups and for major art exhibitions and festivals.

Humans have lived in the land of Turkey for thousands of years. Many parts of Turkish culture date back to the earliest humans in the world. It is a wonderful and beautiful culture. Arts and crafts are very important to Turkish people. In fact, some of the most beautiful and valuable handmade crafts have been produced in Turkey. Many years ago, those who lived in Turkey were called Ottoman Turks. It was a common belief among Ottoman Turks that every person should be an expert of at least one craft. Partly because of this belief, Turkish crafts are highly developed.

Turkey : Culture
The official image of turkish society promoted by the ruling elite since the 1920s is one of relative homogeneity. This image has been enshrined in successive constitutions of the republic, including the 1982 document, in which it is stated that "the Turkish state, with its territory and nation, is an indivisible entity. Its language is Turkish." In reality, Turkish society is a mosaic of various and at times contending ethnic and linguistic groups. The question, "Who is a Turk?," continued to provoke controversy in the mid-1990s. In the early republican time of the 1920s and 1930s, civil and military officials occupied the unchallenged pinnacle of the social structure. Since that time, competing elements, particularly businesspeople, industrialists, professionals, and employees of private organizations, have challenged the supremacy of the officials. As a result, the social complexion of the political elite has been in transition since the early 1980s, not just in Ankara and Istanbul but in other cities as well. In rural areas, and for the large majority of the population, orthodox forms and values, such as the centrality of family life and adherence to an ethical blueprint of behavior perceived in religious terms, have survived, although in altered form. accordingly, the balance between orthodox and "modern" values remains uneasy. Turkey Culture Culture of Turkey is very diverse that is blend of several elements of Oguz Turkic, Ottoman, Anatolian that was a continuation of the both Roman-Greco and the Islamic culture, which started with Westernization of Ottoman Empire and is still continue today. It began originally as a result of encounter of the Turks and the Turkish culture with those who were in the path during their migrations from the central Asia to West. Turkey Successfully then transformed from religion-based former Empire of Ottoman into modern nation-state with very strong separation of religion and state and increase in methods of the artistic expression followed. It was during the very first year of republic. Government invested the large number of resources into the fine art such as theatres, museums, architecture and opera houses. In was due to some historical factors involved and playing some important role in the defining modern Turkish identity, culture of turkey that is the product of some efforts to get modern as well as western by combined necessity felt to the traditions maintained historical and religious values. Music and literature of Turkey from a great example of mix cultural influences that were result of interaction between Ottoman Empire and Islamic world, thus the contribution to blend of the Turkic, European and Islamic traditions in modern day literary arts and Turkish music. Arabic influenced literature of turkey heavily and Persian literature during the most of Ottoman era, particularly after Tanzimat period, effect of both European literary traditions and Turkish folk became increasingly felt.
