The White House US Symbols US Presidents The White House is the official residence of the President of the United States of America, and has been for over 200 years. It is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. , the capital city of the USA The Design and Construction of the White House The White House was designed by the Irish-American architect James Hoban, who had won a architectural design competition in 1792. Hoban's design is said to have been very similar to a plan from James Gibbs' "Book of Architecture" (published in 1728). Extra pavillions and porticos (ornamental, deck-like structures with columns supporting a roof) were added to the White House later; they were designed by the architect Benjamin Latrobe (who also designed the United States Capitol). The White House was originally built from 1792 to 1800; it was constructed by paid and slave laborers, including stonemasons brought in from Scotland. It was burned down by British soldiers during the War of 1812, but was rebuilt from 1815 to 1817.

James Hoban, an architect who designed the White House, was selected in a competition sponsored by the Federal Government. Construction began in 1792 but the first president, to live there, John Adams did not move in until 1800. Thomas Jefferson hired an architect, Benjamin Latrobe, to complete construction based on many of the original house plans. Unfortunately the building was burned by British troops during the War of 1812, forcing President James Madison and his wife to leave, in 1814. President Monroe moved back into the White House after it was rebuilt in 1817. The building was in need of repair in 1902 when Theodore Roosevelt was president. At that time, President Roosevelt had the east and west wing enlarged and added an indoor swimming pool. The White House contains a bowling alley and movie theatre for recreational purposes. The White House went through renovations during the Kennedy and Nixon Administrations.

    Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4
The above pages (1-2-3-4) are a very good example of the con-game Mr. Arthur G. Dozier and many of the school(s) employees were perpetrating on the general public for many years. Just like the campuses; all looked good from the outside but underneath those manicured lawns and beautiful buildings were the beatings, molestations, rapes and in some instances the killings of young innocent boys. How this was allowed to go on for some fifty years is beyond me. Even today, those in power are still trying to cover up the horrible bloody truth. It has been a costly venture for me personally but when we (the absued) are long gone the truth will live on in the archives of every Florida state institution, college campus, university and every major library who houses an archive. I have made damn sure of that.

The most famous address in the United States is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C. The White House is where the President of the United States lives and works. The flag always flies from the rooftop when the President is at home. "Coloring pages" White House history and facts:
For more than 200 years, the White House has been more than just the home of the Presidents and their families. Throughout the world, it is recognized as the symbol of the President, of the President's administration, and of the United States.
For two hundred years, the White House has stood as a symbol of the Presidency, the United States government, and the American people. Its history, and the history of the nation's capital, began when President George Washington signed an Act of Congress in December of 1790 declaring that the federal government would reside in a district "not exceeding ten miles square on the river Potomac." President Washington, together with city planner Pierre L'Enfant, chose the site for the new residence, which is now 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. As preparations began for the new federal city, a competition was held to find a builder of the "President's House." Nine proposals were submitted, and Irish-born architect James Hoban won a gold medal for his practical and handsome design.
