Home WA Home Based Instruction Laws WA State Constitution on Education Legislation ... Contact Us Bringing Home-Education into the Future" What Does WNLA Do? The So Called Crisis in California Civics lesson 101:
Laws are made by the legislature. The case in California may be unfortunate, however the judge ruled using a law that currently stood on the California books. Washington state has know such law, therefore this particular situation can not occur in Washington state. A petition will not change any judicial decision, nor should it. One may petition elected representative that make law, which is sometimes effective to gain change. The Judiciary is responsible for ruling in accordance with the laws created by the elected representative of the people, better known as the legislature. The judge did not create law, the judge ruled on a existing law. It is dismaying that so called political activists (representing homeschooling) have such little knowledge of how the three separate branches of government operate. I suggest those who are ignorant as to the workings of our governmental system purchase a middle school civics book and do a little studying.

Since 1976 the teen summer camp Business Week has been offered on college campuses across Washington. Student stay on campus, live in the dorms and experience the college environment. Washington Business Week also directly offers teen programs in high schools during the school year. This format of teen-based program involves local business professionals as they invest into the youth of that community. The program format is very similar to the summer camp except that it runs for just the regular school day.

Public schools, open to all children.
Distinguished by high levels of autonomy and accountability.
Successfully educating more than 750,000 children
in over 3,000 schools across the country. 40 states have charter school laws BUT NOT WASHINGTON STATE.
Although the Washington Legislature passed a charter school law in March 2004, labor unions and other charter school opponents persuaded a majority of voters to overturn the law in a referendum that was decided in the November 2004 election. As a result, bringing the CHOICE of charter public schools to WA will require the passage of new legislation authorizing charter schools, either by the Legislature or, through the initiative process, by the People.
