Bellevue Chapter No. 159, located in Bellevue, Washington, was chartered in 1991 as an affiliate of the national organization of the American Society of Women Accountants. The Society has over 4,000 members throughout the US. " ASWA " founded in 1938 by the American Women's Society of Certified Public Accountants, is a professional organization dedicated to the advancement of opportunities for women in all fields of accounting. Bellevue Chapter now attracts women in all aspects of accounting from this growing business community, both certified and non-certified. All accountants on the Eastside are welcome, and as members can enjoy the benefits and resources of this professional organization.
Bellevue Chapter meets on the third Tuesday of each month. Quality speakers provide a high level of CPE in accounting, auditing, tax and management, as well as topics of interest. The ASWA Mission Statement The mission of the American Society of Women Accountants is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession.

Issues in Accounting and Auditing Dr. Gary Bulmash is the Distinguished Tyser Teaching Fellow at the University of Maryland Smith School of Business. His areas of expertise are financial accounting and auditing. Dr. Bulmash is actively involved in educating accounting students and practioners.
