1994 Women in Military Service Silver Dollar
1994 Women in Military Service Silver Dollar The 1994 Women in Military Service Memorial Silver Dollar was issued for the construction of a new memorial complex for women in military service. This was one of three programs issued for related memorials. The other programs were for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Prisoner of War Memorial. The obverse of the coin features a profile view of servicewomen in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The reverse features a view of the proposed Women in Military Service for American Memorial. Both the obverse and reverse were designed by T. James Ferrell. The obverse inscriptions include "Army * Marines * Navy * Air Force * Cost Guard" with each separated by a single star. Remaining inscriptions are "Liberty", "In God We Trust", and the date "1994". The reverse inscriptions read "United States of America", "Women in Military Service", "One Dollar", and "E Pluribus Unum". The Women in Military Service Silver Dollars were produced at the Philadelphia Mint in proof version and at the West Point Mint in uncirculated version. The coins were offered for sale individually or as part of a three-coin proof or three-coin uncirculated set of all the memorial themed silver dollars. The sales of this coin fared slightly better than the other two, with a combined mintage above 300,000.

A Salute to Women in Uniform
Almost two million women have served in the U.S. Military
Some 200,000 women are on active duty today!
      Women are Veterans, Too!
THANK A WOMEN VETERAN TODAY !!!!!!!
From the Civil War to today women have volunteered their services to this great nation
and at times with little or no recognition.
History and those who publish this history seem reluctant to record and publish the names, numbers and accomplishments of American women who served, who died, who were imprisoned, or were wounded in military service to this country.
The Women of World War II served under the following female branches of the service :
WAAC - Women's Army Auxiliary Corp, which was never officially established and became WAC - Women's Army Corps in July of 1943. WAVES - Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Services, which was officially established in 1948. WASPS - Women Airforce Service Pilots, this branch did not receive official recognition until 1979 by the Air Force. Then in 1984 (forty years later) those that served in this branch of service received the Victory Medal and for those that served more than 1 year in this service branch, they received the American Theatre Medal as well.
