Award Winners http://library.mtsu.edu/digitalprojects/womenshistory.php Award Winners Jane Sloan, media librarian at Rutgers University, is the winner of the 2008 Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Women's Studies Section (WSS) Award for Significant Achievement in Woman's Studies Librarianship. The WSS award, sponsored by Routledge, honors a significant or one-time contribution to women's studies librarianship." Jane Sloan's recently published book, Reel Women: An International Directory of Contemporary Feature Films about Women (Scarecrow Press, 2007), fills a void in the study of film and women," said Kelly Barrick, chair of the WSS award committee. "No such reference book prior to its publication contributed in such a unique and substantial way to the field. The introductory critical survey written by Ms. Sloan is a worthy achievement in and of itself and speaks to her tireless effort and expert knowledge in compiling this invaluable reference book." Dolores Fidishun, head librarian at the Penn State Great Valley Library, has been selected as the 2008 winner of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL)

It's so great....more and more young women's studies majors and graduate academics are using the feminist bookselling and publishing movement as topics for papers and research. We so constantly receive requests for interviews it's both wonderful...and time consuming. We encourage you to keep asking us but please be sure to do your reading first. This list is a compilation of published articles and materials. Please refer to this list as you do your reading and research. If you have published or know of an article that is not on this list, please notify Mev Miller.

Faculty/Staff Campaign Generates Thanks and Millions
From: University of Cincinnati Currents
Date: February 25, 2000
By: Marianne Kunnen-Jones For more than a year, faculty and staff have been working to help the Campaign for UC reach its $300 million goal. By the end of January 2000, their impact totaled $14,866,874, according to Milton Orchin, professor emeritus of chemistry and co-chair of the faculty and staff part of the UC Campaign. Want just a few examples of that faculty/staff commitment? Thanks to the support of faculty in the Department of Internal Medicine, the Richard and Sue Vilter Chair in Internal Medicine was funded last year. At the College of Nursing, more than 50 pledges are supporting technology, scholarships and the Institute of Nursing Research. In fall 1999, faculty and staff in the Department of Family Medicine helped launch an endowed chair campaign to honor the department's first director, Robert Smith. The $1.5 million effort has already raised more than $300,000. "Although outside giving constitutes the major portion of the campaign, the faculty and staff have the opportunity to express their loyalty and appreciation to the university by contributing to the campaign. Also some forms of giving can be very beneficial financially to donors through tax deductions and charitable gift annuities," Orchin said.
