No private insurer wants to touch that demographic, because it knows it will have to pay out more than it can take in. That's Medicare. Next, we also have Medicaid, which covers basically the indigent. No private insurer wants that demographic, either. Obviously. They don't want SCHIP, either. In short, the government has taken on all of the demographics the private sector does not want. Now, you will admit that private insurers make large profits, right? You of course know that the CEOs of the top ten insurance companies make an average of 12 million a year. You also know, of course, that these companies pay out millions to lobbyists, marketing firms and shareholders. They make huge profits because they have access to millions of customers who send in payments but need no health care. They have millions of customers who pay into the system more than they take out.
