GOVERNMENT
The Zimbabwean constitution institutionalizes majority rule and protection of minority rights. The elected government controls senior appointments in the public service, including the military and police, and the independent Public Service Commission is charged with making appointments at lower levels on an equitable basis.
The judiciary is headed by the chief justice of the Supreme Court who, like the other justices, is appointed by the president on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission. The constitution has a bill of rights containing extensive protection of human rights. The bill of rights could not be amended for the first 10 years of independence except by unanimous vote of the parliament.
Zimbabwe is divided into ten provinces, each administered by a provincial governor appointed by the president. The provincial administrator and representatives of several service ministries assist the provincial governor.

Zimbabwe Government Bylaws
By Nicholas Pell eHow Contributor updated: September 4, 2010 I want to do this! What's This?
  • The Constitution of Zimbabwe provides the framework for its laws. Originally drafted in 1981 following a bloody civil war, the Constitution of Zimbabwe provides the framework for the country's laws . The constitution's most recent amendment, in 2005, was roundly criticized as undemocratic by the international community. Those concerned about the situation on the ground, as well as students of international law , will want to become familiar with Zimbabwe government bylaws.
  • Citizenship
  • Zimbabwe's constitution provides that people who were citizens of Rhodesia before Independence Day (April 18, 1980) are citizens of the Republic of Zimbabwe. Citizenship is generally conferred upon children who are born in the country. Exceptions include children born to noncitizens, and to people who are in Zimbabwe illegally.
Children born outside the country are considered citizens if the father-or for those born out of wedlock, the mother-is a citizen of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

    http://www.zw.emb-japan.go.jp/
GREETINGS FROM THE AMBASSADOR One year has passed since I assumed my post as the Ambassador to Zimbabwe. I arrived on 16th September 2008, that was a day after the signing of the Global Political Agreement among the three main political parties. I still remember those days, just after my arrival in Harare, that it was rather difficult to find even a loaf of bread at the supermarket, prices of everything increased astronomically every day.
In February 2009, I attended the inauguration ceremony of the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Ministers at the State House. Since the formation of the Government of National Unity (GNU), which my Government welcomed, and introduction of multi-foreign currencies or dollarization, hyper inflation has ceased and commodities have come back to the market. I am pleased to witness the progress made by the GNU. At the same time, I sincerely hope that the parties concerned will make further efforts towards thorough implementation of the GPA, including the restoration of the rule of law, freedom of assembly, commitment to the democratic process, respect for human rights and personal security, and to accelerate the new Constitution making process in order to bring about a more secure and prosperous Zimbabwe.
