Rolf Boldrewood ) was a novelist, best known for his novel Robbery Under Arms At the beginning of this novel the narrator, Dick Marsden, is awaiting execution for crimes committed whilst he was a bushranger. He goes on to tell the story of his life and loves and his association with the notorious Captain Starlight. Some of the exploits recounted are based on actual incidents carried out by Daniel Morgan, Ben Hall, Frank Gardiner and John Gilbert, all of whom are notorious historical figures. This "ripping yarn" has, since its first publication in book form in , remained popular and has been filmed three times and serialised on radio in Australia Rolf Boldrewood was the pen name of Thomas Alexander Brown, and was also a squatter and a civil servant.

Autograph manuscript of Boldrewood's autobiographical notes concerning his arrival in New South Wales and his schooling and writing, among other things, as well as notes on In bad company. Also includes letter from Browne to W.M. Gibson about Gibson's stories and letters from Browne to Mr. Reid about sending his books for review.

March 11, 1915, Melbourne, Vic., Australia), romantic novelist best known for his Robbery Under Arms (1888) and A Miner's Right (1890), both exciting and realistic portrayals of pioneer life in Australia. Taken to Australia as a small child, Boldrewood was educated there and then operated a large farm in Victoria for some years.
