88. BPSA Manitoba
Program information and links.
http://www.bpsa-canada.org/Manitoba.htm
BPSA Manitoba
The BPSA in Manitoba was formed in 2008 as an independent and traditional style Scouting Association. It perpetuates the principles and practices of Scouting laid down by Robert Baden-Powell in 1907 which had been developed and refined in the Boy Scouts Associations world wide for over 100 years. These principles are so fundamentally sound and the practices so adaptable that traditional scouting goes on developing and can never be dated or unsuited to any community. Our aim is to promote good citizenship and wholesome physical, mental and spiritual development; and training in habits of observation, discipline, self-reliance, loyalty, and useful skills. The BPSA is totally independent of, and not affiliated with, Scouts Canada. We are members of the World Federation of Independent Scouts and as such are not in competition with other Canadian Scouting Associations, we are only their brothers and sisters. The training scheme devised by B-P is based on using the natural desires of young people as a guide to the activities which will attract and hold them. The appeal of true scouting has always been to that element of the vagabond, pioneer and explorer which is part of our nature, and is at its most evident in youth. Hence the significance of the opening sequence of the B-P's explanation of scouting in "Scouting for Boys": "By the term 'scouting' is meant the work and attributes of backwoodsmen, explorers and frontiersmen".

Legislative Amendment Saves Charitable Bingo in Ohio
State legislators added wording to a casino bill signed by Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland that allowed churches and non-profit organizations to continue holding fundraising casino and poker nights, and offer Bingo and other gaming at church festivals. The amended bill also ensured that raffle tickets for free prizes at professional sports events were legal. Issue 3, the statewide ballot issue approved by voters in November 2009, legalized four Ohio casinos. But because a phrase in the constitutional amendment expressly allowed Bingo, lottery games, and horse-race betting, any other form of gaming in Ohio would have been banned, prompting the new language in House Bill 519, which set rules and fees for newly approved casinos. —Cincinnati.com
    Daylily Bingo in Texas
To generate public interest in daylilies, The Lone Star Daylily Society held a Bingo for Daylilies event at the Senior Citizens Building in Alvin, Texas. Refreshments were provided by the Society and Bingo winners received some of the newest varieties of daylilies available as prizes. A small fundraising fee was charged for the Bingo cards. —Houston Chronicle
