Agatha Christie - Queen of crime
This page is dedicated to, in my humble opinion, the best mystery writer of all time. Here you can find a list of all her books, little something about some of the books, little something about the woman herself, and, of course, some related links that I've found. Hope you will find something interesting here. If you want to ask me some questions or give me some suggestions , feel free to do so. I'm really going to answer all the questions that I can and know, however sometimes I recieve questions which I wouldn't be able to answer if I was Agatha Christie herself. So if you don't get an answer for your question it means that I probably don't know it. Just don't ask me to do a book report for you, 'cause I don't have that much free time. Thank you for visiting my home page.

Agatha C HRISTIE

Jump to: navigation search Previous (Agate) Next (Agave) Agatha Mary Clarissa, Lady Mallowan , Order of the British Empire DBE (September 15, 1890 – January 12, 1976), also known as Dame Agatha Christie , was an English crime fiction writer. Her appeal is so large that Christie is often cited, by the Guinness Book of World Records and others, as the all-time best-selling writer of fiction, and the best-selling writer of any kind second only to William Shakespeare . An estimated billion copies of her novels have been sold in English, and another billion in 103 other languages. As an example of her broad appeal, she is the all-time best-selling author in France, with over 40 million copies sold in French (as of 2003) versus 22 million for Emile Zola , the nearest contender. She is purportedly outsold only by the Bible.

Some sunning to the spine ends, and a dampstain on the front board, an about very good copy in an attractive, very good plus example of the dustwrapper with some neatly effected professional restoration, particularly at the base of the spine. A highly politically incorrect title even when it was published, the jacket compounded the problem by portraying little black figures with big white lips cavorting with spears and eating watermelon. The book was published in America as And Then There Were None and was later reissued as Ten Little Indians, perhaps only an incremental improvement over the original. In any event, one of Christie's most ingenious, rarest, and sought after titles, reportedly the best-selling mystery of all time. Made into an excellent 1945 film, And Then There Were None , directed by Rene Clair, scripted by Dudley Nichols and with Barry Sullivan and Walter Huston leading an excellent ensemble cast. RESTORATION
APPEAL Agatha Christie was born on born on September l5th. 1890 in a house called Ashfield in Torre Parish about a twenty- minute walk from All Saints' Church. She was the youngest of three children with an older sister called Madge and a brother, Monty, who was ten years her senior. Her father was American, her mother was English and they were called Frederick and Clara. When Agatha was born her father donated a sum of money to All Saints' Church to mark her birth and she became a founder member and this church will always be associated with her. On October 2Oth 1890, when she was two months old, she was baptised in this church in the same font that we use today. She received the names Agatha Mary Clarissa Miller. . . Mary after her grandmother, Clarissa after her mother and Agatha which was suggested for her by a friend on the way to the church. Throughout life this church and her Christian faith remained an important priority and this all started at All Saints. Her father took her to church every Sunday and always sat in the front row. Every week ten minutes into the sermon he would ask, "Do you want to leave now?" To which she always replied decisively, "No"
