The articles
In 1995, Chris Hecker started an article series on "Perspective Texture Mapping" in the Game Developer magazine , published by Miller Freeman . The series is finished by now. The articles in question as published in the "Under the Hood/Behind the Screen" column are:
  • "Part I - Foundations", April/May 95, pp. 16-25
  • "Part II - Rasterization", June/July 95, pp. 18-26
  • "Part III - Endpoints and Mapping", August/September 95, pp. 17-24
  • "Part IV - Approximations", December 95/January 96, pp. 19-25
  • "Part V - It's About Time", April/May 96, pp. 25-33
I received the back issues for Part I-III. MFI will hopefully deliver soon the Part IV issue on scanline subdivision, and Part V issue which contains the discussion of an example of a pipelined floating point texture mapper as invented by Michael Abrash. Another issue I got lays the foundations to the floating point approach
  • "Let's Get to the (Floating) Point", February/March 96, pp. 19-24
Back issues can be ordered from MFI.

MJ Gage's References This webpage contains information on references and possible references which Matilda Joslyn Gage used in her research. The names of authors and their works have come from only a few of her writings, all of which can be found on-line at the Matilda Joslyn Gage website. These works include: At times, it is difficult to tell if Gage is referring to a work she read about, is quoting from or referencing a work she actuallyread, or is quoting from a work that was quoted in a third unnamed work. Sometimes she gives a title which I haven't been able to verify, but is close to a title of a work that I have been able to verify. At other times, Gage lists an author but not the title of his work.

The Black Death Book: By J.F.C. Hecker Author: Hecker, J.F.C. Translation: Babington, B.G About October 1347, galleys carrying refugees from the conquered Genoese colonies in the Crimea brought the plague to Western Europe. In the course of the next few years, a truly appalling number of people died, and an indelible mark was left on European history. Black Death Ravages Europe Different parts of the oriental world have been mentioned as the probable locality of the first appearance of the plague or pestilence known as the "black death," but its origin is most generally referred to China, where, at all events, it raged violently about 1333, when it was accompanied at its outbreak by terrestrial and atmospheric phenomena of a destructive character, such as are said to have attended the first appearance of Asiatic cholera and other spreading and deadly diseases; from which it has been conjectured that through these convulsions deleterious foreign substances may have been projected into the atmosphere.

THE BLACK DEATH
To disturb the tranquil and largely harmless existence of Pasteurella Pestis something had to happen to make the rodents leave their homes. With them, inevitably, would travel their attendant fleas and, within the fleas, a cargo of deadly parasites. We are unlikely ever to know exactly what it was which caused this particular rodent migration. Philip Ziegler, The Black Death It so happens that the animal most associated with the Pied Piper, the Black Rat ( Rattus rattus ) harbors an insect parasite called the flea ( Xenopsylla cheopis ), which in turn carries a complex set of bacteria called Pasteurella (or Yersinia pestis , better known as bubonic plague. Although medieval doctors and clergymen never realized that rats (rather, the fleas carried by them) delivered the plague to humans, it seems likely that our Piper would have noticed the correlation. But first: Kiang (Yangze) and Hoai River systems, China, 1333: There was a terrible drought and famine in these River districts, followed by violent storms and floods in Kingsai. Tsinchou Mountain disappeared, leaving a huge cleft in the earth. Honan and Houkouang, China, 1334:
