Daily travel report from Japan with photos and interesting details about the culture
Japan from a different angle Japanese manage to visit whole of Europe within five days. Japan being a smaller country we allow ourselves twice as long to tour Japan by train with backpacks and experience as much as possible. Not only are we interested in the main tourist attractions but also in daily life in Japan, in meeting people and their culture. In order to achieve that we will be staying at small family owned guesthouses, buddhist temples and private accomodations. We are reporting our experiences on a daily basis on this website. We would be very happy if you would accompany us on our journey.

The regions of Japan are not official administrative units, but have been traditionally used as the regional division of Japan in a number of contexts. For instance, maps and geography textbooks divide Japan into the eight regions, weather reports usually give the weather by region, and many businesses and institutions use their home region as part of their name ( Kinki Nippon Railway Chūgoku Bank Tohoku University , etc.). While Japan has eight High Courts, their jurisdictions do not correspond to the eight regions below. From north to south, the traditional regions are:

Photo by ajpscs Living in Japan isn’t easy for a lot of foreigners. But it isn’t that hard, either. For Mike Green, Anthony Palmer, and Jay Matvichuk, three people who have more in common than they realize, life here has been a mixed bag. Although they’re from different places and different backgrounds, all found their way to Japan for a plethora of reasons as missionaries.
    Belly dancing in JapaN
Japan has been a closed society until recently. Now, Japanese are very interested in other cultures. Food, music and dance from other countries are gaining popularity fast, but nothing so fast as belly dancing. Fiction NOTB Seated on the floor in the center of my sparsely furnished room, I took a long deep drag on my cigarette. My head started to spin with an intensity and velocity that made me feel nauseous. This was not the first time I had felt this way. My first ever toke had created similar feelings of sickness. But this time was different. Opinion Gambatte christmas The middle of November, walking along the street in an urban area, the shrines on my left, the rising sun over my shoulder, Christmas trees all around me? The Situation
Japan is a transit and destination country for human trafficking. The traffickers are reportedly part of Japanese organized crime syndicates, particularly the Yakuza. Destination
Japan is a destination country for women and children who are trafficked from China, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and to a lesser extent Latin America for sexual and labor exploitation. Many of the trafficking victims were coerced into commercial sexual exploitation in strip clubs, sex shops, hostess bars, private video rooms, escort services, and mail-order video services. NGOs reported that in some cases brokers used drugs to subjugate victims. Women also voluntarily migrate to work in Japan but are later coerced into exploitative conditions. Women are usually held in debt bondage for $26,000 to $43,000 for their living expenses, medical care, and other necessities. Internal Trafficking
Japan has a significant amount of internal trafficking of women and girls who are trafficked for sexual exploitation.
