Jack Rigaux 1951-
Jack is a recent friend and teacher. Jack was born in Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada, in 1951. He studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts in 1967, and then earned a diploma in Painting and Drawing from the Alberta College of Art in 1974. Since then he has been working as a practicing Artist and teacher in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is President of the Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists. For many years Jack nurtured the desires and talents of dozens of aspiring artists and enthusiastic amateurs at his East Slope Studio, located in a de-consecrated church in the Erlton neighbourhood of Calgary. I spent many wonderful Wednesday evenings of creative camaraderie with other "students" painting and learning from this gifted artist and teacher. It did not matter what medium or style one is grappling with, Jack has the uncanny ability to draw the best from you. The facility in Erlton is no longer in operation, soon to be re-developed as most inner Calgary city lots are, but the spirit of the East Slope Studio lives on in hundreds of people like myself who continue to paint-and count Jack Rigaux among those who have influenced them greatly. Jack is my artistic conscience-that voice in my ear and those blue eyes peering over my shoulder-as I eagerly devote more time to exploring and developing my own style. Jack forced me out of my comfort zone. He moved me beyond the somewhat anal-retentive landscapes and rocks-though, as a geologist, they remain the subject matter of most of my work-into a looser style, with larger brushes, bolder colours, and bigger images.

19. Beaconsfield Golf Club :: Overview
Legends of the likes of Andy Bean, Julius Boros, Pat Bradley, JoAnne Carner, Henry Cotton, Ben Crenshaw, George Fazio, Bill Kerr, Stan Leonard, Nancy Lopez, Dr. Gil Morgan, Jack
http://www.beaconsfieldgolf.ca/bgc/course/overview
HOME Quarry
The limestone for the piers of the Victoria Bridge was taken from the great limestone plateau that now forms the base for the 12th tee, the field bar, the 11th tee, the practice putting green, the 1st tee and the picturesque backdrop to Gibraltar, the 15th hole at Beaconsfield. OVERVIEW
The mature beauty of the golf course and its relatively short 6512 yards, subtly disguise its severe demands on accuracy.
Legends of the likes of Andy Bean, Julius Boros, Pat Bradley, JoAnne Carner, Henry Cotton, Ben Crenshaw, George Fazio, Bill Kerr, Stan Leonard, Nancy Lopez, Dr. Gil Morgan, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Doug Sanders, and Lee Trevino have struggled through the formidable array of holes 3, 4, 5, and 6. Coming out of this turn alive is the secret to managing Beaconsfield and the reputation of Beaconsfield as being a Golfer's Golf Course, arises from this strenuous test.
The course is unique in many other respects. There are five par 3 holes, each with its particular challenge. By combining distance, strategically located bunkers and an undulating green, the notorious 13th - "Village" - is possibly the most difficult par 3 in Canada. The 15th - "Gibraltar", Beaconsfield's signature hole, is set against a stunning 30-foot rock face - a remnant from its origins as a limestone quarry.
The excavated rock which in effect created the elevated tees at 1, 10, 12 and 16, was used to construct the 24 piers of the Victoria Bridge for the Grand Trunk railway.

20. Michael Coleman
works can be found in the private and public collections of Clint Eastwood, Burt Reynolds, Ian Cumming, John Huntsman, Bill Kerr, Stan Kamen
http://www.wildlifeartshow.com/michael_coleman.htm
Home Map Artist Bios Michael Coleman Michael Coleman was born and raised in Provo, Utah and spent his boyhood hunting, fishing and trapping throughout the Rocky Mountains, often taking a sketchbook with him. Early on, he decided on a career in art, studying at Brigham Young University and traveling broadly for subject matter. Coleman quickly became a prominent Southwestern artist when in 1978, at the age of 32, he was given his first retrospective at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. He exhibited at the National Academy of Western Art and at Kennedy Galleries in New York. Then, in 1999, he won the Prix de West Award at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame for his bronze of a moose titled "September," which work has joined the permanent collection of the Hall of Fame. He paints primarily in oil on board or gouache. His style is greatly influenced by many of the key early 19th century masters of the Hudson River School, such as: Henry Farny, Thomas Moran and George Inness, and the 20th century animal painter, Carl Rungius.
