Grey's background changed as the Outlander series progressed. For example, his father was only an earl in Dragonfly in Amber , but by the time John Grey's own series appeared, his father had become a duke. The following is the description of John Grey's background collected from the more recent books, consisting mostly of Lord John Grey series. Born around June 1729, John William Grey was the second child of the Duke and Duchess of Pardloe, Gerard and Benedicta Grey. The couple's first child is John's elder brother, Harold. In addition to Harold, John had two other siblings—half brothers from his mother's earlier marriage to Captain DeVane—Paul and Edgar DeVane.

Victorian Web Home Political History Prime Ministers Lord John Russell served as Prime Minister from 30 June 1846 to 21 February 1852 and from 29 October 1865 to 26 June 1866. He was born on 8 August 1792, the third son of the sixth Duke of Bedford. He was educated at Westminster School and the University of Edinburgh. When he was fully grown, Russell stood only 5' 4¾" tall and weighed about 8 stones (112 lbs; 50 kg): his diminutive size was a constant source of surprise to others. In the 1830s, the witty Sydney Smith claimed tongue-in-cheek, Before this Reform agitation commenced Lord John was over six feet high. But, engaged in looking after your interests, fighting the peers, the landlords, and the rest of your natural enemies, he has been so constantly kept in hot water that he is boiled down to the proportions in which you now behold him. Russell, who entered Parliament in 1813 as the MP for Tavistock, during the 1820s persistently advocated both extending the franchise and granting political equality to Roman Catholics. His support of parliamentary reform won the Whigs a great deal of support in the 1830 General Election although the

John Russell, the third son of the 6th Duke of Bedford , was born in London on 17th August, 1792. The Duke of Bedford supported parliamentary reform and along with Lord Grey Richard Sheridan Thomas Erskine and Samuel Whitbread was a member of the Society of Friends of the People . Before he inherited his title in 1802 the Duke of Bedford had been the MP for Tavistock
Russell suffered from poor health and after a short spell at Westminster School , he was educated at home. The Duke of Bedford encouraged his son to take an interest in politics and Russell, like his father, developed a sympathy for the poor. At the age of fourteen he wrote in his diary, "What a pity that he who steals a penny loaf should be hung, whilst he who steals thousands of the public money should be acquitted."
In 1809 Russell went to Edinburgh University . Soon after he finished his studies in 1812 his father arranged for him to be elected to the family seat of Tavistock . He was also granted the courtesy title, Lord Russell. In the

Rest In Peace...
It is with regret that we report the passing of Lord John Marbury, Earl of Croy, all the formal dignifications, honorariums, and etc ., due to complications resulting from springtime allergies. Autopsy reports confirm that the deceased drowned in the ample snouty founts of his own post-nasal drip. Police suspect no human foul play, but are keeping a sharp eye on the flora and fauna.
Lord John's solicitor has already conducted a reading of the will, which resulted in no small measure of controversy. His bereaved heirs are said to lament the fact that only a few pounds sterling remain. It appears Marbury's once substantial estate had been laid waste in his final days by the considerable financial outlays required in the fight to keep histamine at bay.
The Earl is survived by his wife and son, who, regrettably, are stricken with the same affliction.

This book prompted the creation of the website, we spent twelve years putting the book together and it has become a highlight in the thirty-year history of the press, the ultimate in film memorabilia. In a way it is also a primer on movie poster collecting and checking the authenticity of autographs. All the press releases and promotional materials compare a small press with an independent film the film analogy is real enough because this is a movie book and a small group created it as opposed to hundreds working at a Hollywood major studio or a New York publishing house.
This site will be an ever-changing arena with new and exciting additions showing up on a regular basis. Feel free to browse and come back as often as you like.
We have expressed our gratitude privately and collectively to all the contributors and to those who signed pages for the limited edition but there are those who deserve even more thanks: the designer Susan Flake, John Updike for concerted encouragements, Ray Bradbury who helped and made recommendations, Billy Wilder who called Fred Zinnemann, to Roman Polanski for his counsel, to Jean Simmons and Lizabeth Scott for their class, to Jeanne Moreau who opened up her personal files, Bertrand Tavernier who traveled to France from Hollywood and sent back everything he had promised and to Robert Bloch who approached this task with diligence and wisdom. And to Rab Brown who designed this website.
