Broadly targeted human cytomegalovirus-specific CD4 and CD8 T cells dominate the memory compartments of exposed subjects
  • Andrew W. Sylwester Bridget L. Mitchell John B. Edgar Cara Taormina ... Jay A. Nelson , and Louis J. Picker Corixa Corporation, Seattle, WA 98104 Institut für Medizinische Immunologie, Charité, 10098 Berlin, Germany CORRESPONDENCE Louis J. Picker:
  • Abstract
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infections of immunocompetent hosts are characterized by a dynamic, life-long interaction in which host immune responses, particularly of T cells, restrain viral replication and prevent disease but do not eliminate the virus or preclude transmission. Because HCMV is among the largest and most complex of known viruses, the T cell resources committed to maintaining this balance have never been characterized completely. Here, using cytokine flow cytometry and 13,687 overlapping 15mer peptides comprising 213 HCMV open reading frames (ORFs), we found that 151 HCMV ORFs were immunogenic for CD4

Biography and chronology of Sir Clive s life (to 1986) plus various interviews.
    http://www.nvg.org/sinclair/sinclair/sinclair.htm
Home Sir Clive Sinclair Sir Clive Marles Sinclair has been an iconic and often controversial figure in British industry for more than quarter of a century. He chalked up significant successes - the first pocket calculator , the first pocket television , the best-selling British computer of all time - but is at least as well known for his spectacular failures, most notably the C5 electric vehicle . He was lauded (and awarded a knighthood) by Margaret Thatcher's government for leading what was seen as a renaissance of British industry, but was seen in other quarters as offering only skin-deep solutions to Britain's industrial malaise. Now in his sixties, Sir Clive still continues to produce a variety of innovative products from his London headquarters. Biographical Sinclair's Companies

Very brief history of Sinclair in Cambridge, and of Cambridge University s Sinclair Building.
    http://www.iankitching.me.uk/history/cam/sinclair.html
    Sinclair in Cambridge
Clive Sinclair met Tim Eiloart, a founder of Cambridge Consultants Ltd. , in 1961. CCL helped Sinclair Radionics , then based in London, to sell its radio and amplifier kits by mail order from Cambridge. Sinclair relocated to Cambridge in 1967. In the early Seventies he invented the pocket calculator and by 1973 dominated the UK pocket calculator market, having relocated to St Ives the previous year. New products such as the first digital watch, the Black Watch , and a pocket TV followed but the strain of the development costs led to the breakup of Sinclair Radionics in 1979, principally into Thandar Electronics (instruments) and Sinclair Research (consumer electronics). In the early 1980s Sinclair refurbished the old mineral water bottling plant at 25 Willis Road (here) , mainly for offices. A full-page article in a Sunday newspaper termed the high-tech. building Silicon Alley . He also had Milton Hall as a research centre. Planet Sinclair is the best place to continue following the history. The Sinclair Museum concentrates on the products.

June 9, 2009 Long time since the last update here. The usual excuses. We are now running on a different server, as our original host server, hudat.com, has been retired off the network. We'd like to thank Kendrick Vargas for the wonderful job he did hosting the timexsinclair.org website these past 8 years. Join us on the ts2068 yahoogroups.com site for ongoing discussions! November 27, 2007 The Timex Sinclair 2068 keyboard rated 9th worst according to Benj Edwards' PC World The 10 Worst PC Keyboards of All Time article. Less than complimentary about our dear old computer, the author writes "It's no exaggeration to say that using the 2068's keyboard without training was like trying to type while drunk and blindfolded." The Timex Sinclair 1000 keyboard was ranked 4th worst - an assesment I agree with, given the number of times I was close to finish typing a program only to knock the 16k expander slightly enough to reset the computer. The oldest Sinclair magazine was Sinclair User (1982-93), published by the media giant EMAP. It started off covering the ZX81, expanded to cover the Spectrum (eventually its sole focus) and also covered the QL for a while from 1984-86. The magazine went through three distinct phases during its decade in publication, readily distinguishable by the changing appearance of the cover:
    • From 1982-86 under the editorship of Nigel Clark and Bill Scolding Sinclair User aimed itself at the "serious hobbyist". Games were only a relatively small element of SU's coverage (unlike CRASH and Your Spectrum Your Sinclair ). Far more emphasis was put on worthy articles on serious applications such as business computing, education and especially programming. The magazine regularly carried a dozen or so pages dedicated to type-in programs submitted by readers, which proved popular enough to give rise to two spin-offs - Sinclair Programs (1982-84), which was entirely filled with type-in program listings, and the short-lived

    Home Computers Timex/Sinclair
In the early 1980s, then as now, the world's biggest market for home computers was in the United States. It was an essential market for a computer manufacturer to crack. Although Sinclair did sell the ZX81 and Spectrum though mail order in the USA for a time, the Sinclair machines' biggest American success came about through the company's collaboration with Timex. The American giant was already Sinclair's prime contractor for building ZX81s and Spectrums at its plant in Dundee, Scotland. Sinclair was doing well in the States - by June 1981 it was selling 18,000-20,000 ZX81s a month, more than the combined unit sales of Tandy, Apple and Commodore. Unfortunately, the quality of the products was very poor, with only one in three Sinclair computers actually working. A tie-up with Timex was the obvious answer, and resulted in five officially-licensed computers based on Sinclair technology. Only three of these were, however, actually released:
