Cyrus Thomas
Home Library Miscellaneous Columbia Encyclopedia - People Thomas, Cyrus, 1825-1910, American anthropologist and entomologist, b. Kingsport, Tenn. He was a lawyer, then a minister (1865-69) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was associated with the U.S. Geological and Geographical Survey of the Territories from 1869 to 1873. As state entomologist of Illinois (1874-76) and a member of the U.S. Entomological Commission (1876-77), he helped bring under control the insect plague that was retarding the agriculture of the border states. In 1882 he left natural science for social science, becoming archaeologist to the newly established U.S. Bureau of Ethnology, where he served until his death. Besides numerous articles on entomology and archaeology, he wrote Introduction to the Study of North American Archaeology (1898) and The Indians of North America in Historic Times Deutsch Italiano Tagalog Search unanswered questions...

Biography
Will Thomas is the author of Some Danger Involved , the first novel featuring Cyrus Barker and Thomas Llewelyn, and now a Barry and Shamus Award nominee. He lives with his family in Oklahoma.
1. Thomas and Barker continue to become more complementary to each other as partners (Thomas's book learning coupled with Barker's street smarts) in each novel. How do you envision their relationship to will grow? Will Thomas ever become Barker's equal or is it necessary to keep Barker somewhat of a mystery to Thomas in order to keep the interplay between the two characters interesting? Eventually, most of Barker's secret past will tumble out. As Llewelyn moves from apprentice to journeyman agent, he will face increasing dangers and grow. Both men must rely upon each other to survive and will go through trials and changes in their personal lives. Beyond that, Llewelyn hasn't told me yet. 2. You write your books using pen and paper rather than on a computer. Why? Does the pen and paper spark more creativity in you?
