HOUSING DATA INVENTORY AND ANALYSIS F.A.C.) HOUSING INVENTORY F.A.C.) This subsection presents an inventory of housing trends and characteristics pursuant to Rule 9J-5.010(1), F.A.C. Housing Characteristics and Village-County Comparison (§9J-5.010(1)(a-b), F.A.C.) Pursuant to §9J-5.010, F.A.C. , this section provides an inventory and comparison of housing characteristics identified in the 1990 Census of Population and Housing for Islamorada, Village of Islands and Monroe County. Since Islamorada, Village of Islands was not incorporated at the time of the 1990 Census, data for Islamorada was obtained from the two Census Block Numbering Areas (BNA) comprising the Village, BNA 9708 and 9709. Dwelling Units by Structure Type Table 3-1 denotes a comparison of dwelling units by structure type for Islamorada, Village of Islands and all of Monroe County. Islamorada had a slightly higher percentage of single- family dwelling units than Monroe County. Single- family units accounted for 59.59% percent of the total housing stock for Islamorada in 1990, while Monroe County's percentage of single- family units is less than 50%. Islamorada and the County had similar percentages of multi-family units (27.97% versus 26.36%, respectively).

Chronology of Research Activities
Geography 367, Landscape Analysis: Cultural Settlement Geography of Eau Claire , was first offered as a three-week Interim course in 1978. Enrollment has been restricted to about 21-25 students each year. Students have collected data on various characteristics of houses in Eau Claire and these data have been accumulated into one huge data base. The stages of this community research project are outlined below. The eventual purpose of this research, in addition to faculty and student publications and presentations over the years as more data are collected and analyzed, is to create a community atlas on the World Wide Web about the architectural styles, house and lot characteristics, occupational categories, and socio-economic household patterns in Eau Claire since the 1870s. Stages Years Activities Results 7,106 houses surveyed in the field; data collected from the City of Eau Claire's Assessor's Office records architectural and assessment data used Eau Claire City Directories every 10 years from 1910-1980 occupation by decade for occupants in every house surveyed; partial analysis

Our Agency
The Acadiana Regional Development District is one of eight planning districts for the State of Louisiana dedicated to serve the people, businesses, communities, and local government units within the eight parishes (counties) of Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Vermilion.  Established by Legislative Act in 1967, ARDD was organized to assist municipal and parish governments and has grown into an agency that focuses on business retention and creation in Region Four. ARDD is a quasi-governmental agency governed by a twenty-one member Board of Directors.  Our directors are comprised of elected or appointed officials and business leaders from throughout the eight parish area.  They bring with them experience in commerce, education, transportation, agriculture, and finance.
Funding
Our main source of funding comes from local membership/participation dues and grants.    These funds are utilized to promote economic development projects in the region.  Many of our programs focus on retaining businesses, technology, and a skilled workforce.  Basically, ARDD solves problems either by assistance with grants, or planning, that will solve problems, or by putting local people in contact with organizations or departments that can.  It is important to note that Louisiana is one of the few states that does not provide funding to its planning districts.  Parishes and/or municipalities are billed Local Participation Dues annually. These dues are based on 10 cents per capita from the US Census of Population and Housing. Member parishes/municipalities are given discounts on many services and bonuses for grant funds. ARDD is currently invoicing for the 2009 Annual Dues. Your continued support is appreciated and allows ARDD to assist communities and/or organizations secure resources and mobilize a coordinated response to regional opportunities and challenges.
