Electrochemistry
Summary:
INTRODUCTION
ESP can simulate virtually any electrochemical mechanism, build as a combination of:
  • a maximum of 20 species
  • a maximum of 10 chemical reactions
  • a maximum of 10 redox couple
ESP perform diffusion by fast implementation (in C) of expanding space grid algorithm, to minimize computational time. Spatial grid double in size every fourth grid-increment [4]. Homogeneous chemical complications are solved by means of the Runge-Kutta integration of the fourth-order [5]. Best-Fitting routines for non-linear optimization are based on the Simplex technique [6]. COOL algorithm [7] is used; the experimental current i(exp) is expressed as a linear function of the dimensionless current function, i(sim): i(exp) = slope * i(sim) + intcp Here "slope" and "intcp" are constants that come from the linear regression between experimental and simulated current. Neither slope nor intcp depend by simulation parameters. If the ScaleFlag (SF) parameter is set to then the output is that one of a pure simulation, e.g. slope=1 and intcp=0.

83. EchemEdHome
Teaches electrochemical techniques in an undergraduate lab. There are many links to additional resources and information, including example experiments and basic theory.
http://www.public.coe.edu/departments/ElectrochemEd/
Electrochemical Education The purpose of this Web site is to collect in one location resources useful to educators attempting to incorporate modern electrochemical techniques into the undergraduate chemistry curriculum. The availability of low-cost, high performance potentiostats has put the capability of using sophisticated electrochemical techniques within the the reach of many undergraduate chemistry programs. However, unlike spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques, voltammetric techniques have not been widely adopted in most chemistry curricula. The National Academy of Science's publication, New Horizons in Electrochemical Science and Technology , states that "topics such as electrolytes and galvanic cells have been relegated to cursory treatment in freshman chemistry", "there has been a gradual disappearance of electrochemical coverage in most physical chemistry courses", and thus "most undergraduate students are ill prepared in ...electrochemistry". The goal of this Web site is to facilitate use of modern electrochemical techniques in undergraduate curricula by collecting experiments and information which may be useful to faculty attempting to use these tools with students. In particular, it is hoped that non-electrochemists will find materials here which will enable them to add voltammetric techniques to student laboratories. Why electrochemistry?

88. Potentiodynamic Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy
This digital electrochemical technique acquires and analyses impedance spectra of solid/liquid interface in a potential scan
http://www.abc.chemistry.bsu.by/vi/
Potentiodynamic Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy
PDEIS homepage Spectra acquisition and analysis Virtual instruments Articles and preprints Potentiodynamic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (PDEIS) is the technique for versatile characterisation of electrochemical responses of interfacial processes and structures. PDEIS acquires variable frequency responses in alternating current and a potentiodynamic dc voltammogram in the same potential scan, by probing the electrochemical interface with streams of mutually coordinated wavelets. PDEIS virtual spectrometer program acquires a potentiodynamic impedance spectrum by a common potentiostat connected to a computer with ADC/DAC interface. The object is placed in a common three-electrode electrochemical cell and the spectra are usually recorded in bidirectional potential scans, which give additional information on the extent of reversibility of different constituent processes that contribute to the frequency response of a nonstationary electrochemical interface. Virtual instruments implement both the acquisition and analysis of the potential-dependent electrochemical response. In the potential scan, the multivariate data analysis gives a

JPCalcW - Stand-alone Liquid Junction Potential Calculator JPCalc (Barry, 1994; J. Neurosci. Method. : 107-116) is a research/teaching program designed (1) to show graphically how junction potentials arise in a variety of different patch-clamp configurations and other electrophysiological situations; (2) to then enable the ready calculation of junction potential corrections, given the solution data, and (3) to show clearly how those junction potential corrections need to be applied to the appropriate physiological measurements [see review on junction potentials, J. Membrane Biol. T he original JPCalc program has since been reprogrammed as a full Windows program JPCalc for Windows, or JPCalcW by Axon Instruments , Inc . It is either available with their pClamp package, or as a stand-alone program from Professor P eter H Barry. The cost of the JPCalcW software package, User's Manual and a laboratory license for multiple computers is US$175. So far JPCalc or JPCalcW has been purchased by more than 95 laboratories in at least 17 different countries. This program should also run with Apple Macintosh computers provided they have a fully compatible Windows/DOS emulation package. Further details can be obtained by e-mailing p.barry@unsw.edu.au

In this context, a search for “Heck”, “Negishi” and “Suzuki” together with “ionic liquids” leads to 218 hits for “Heck”, 103 for “Suzuki” and 4 for “Negishi”. This demonstrates impressively that ionic liquids can be used as solvents for these important types of reactions. Below you’ll find just a few references. IOLITEC as one of the world’s leading suppliers of ionic liquids offers ionic liquids that can be used for this excellent chemistry. A number of researchers from academia and industry used already IOLITEC’s ionic liquids for their cross-coupling reactions. Biographical recognition in the Who's Who in Science and Engineering, edited by Marquis-Elsevier, 6th Edition (2001-2005)
Corrosion in radioactive water: The following question can be asked: why carry out corrosion tests?
Before answering this question, we must recognize that there are very few laboratories in the world that use highly concentrated radioactive water. It is not a question of radioactive water traces present in light water, but the reverse. By its nature, this medium is very reactive and its properties are completely different that in light water. Corrosion of stainless steels or super alloys are thus completely different and no comparison is possible. FIGURE showing an adsorbed ammoniac radioligand layer protecting steel against corrosion.
