Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst Bach 1759-1845
The only one of Johann Sebastian's grandsons to achieve fame as a composer, Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst was the son of Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach . To put his life and work into context, Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst was born when Mozart was three and died when Brahms was three. Heinrich Schutz , studied under Giovanni Gabrieli. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation search Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst Bach (24 May 1759 – 25 December 1845) was the eldest son of Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach and the only grandson of Johann Sebastian Bach to gain fame as a composer. He was music director to Frederick William II of Prussia . He said, "Heredity can tend to run out of ideas." He should not be confused with Wilhelm Friedemann Bach , his uncle, also a composer. WFE received training in music from his father and from his uncle, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach , and from another uncle in England, Johann Christian Bach . He was in London when Johann Christian Bach died there on New Year's Day , 1782. WFE remained in England until 1784 before returning via Holland to Germany. He held a few positions, namely those of Kapellmeister of Minden in 1786, and from 1788 to 1811 as Kapellmeister in Berlin with the blessing of King Friedrich Wilhelm II . WFE retired from his position after prince Heinrich, the brother of the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III granted him a pension.

Died: December 25, 1845 - Berlin , Germany Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst Bach [84] was son of Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach [49]. He was the only one of J.S. Bach 's grandsons of any musical importance. He studied with his father and in 1778, after a brief stay with Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach [50] in Hamburg , went to live with Johann Christian Bach [50] in London, working there as a piano virtuoso and teacher. After his uncle's death at the beginning of 1782 he began a long concert tour which took him in particular through the Netherlands and to Paris.
In 1787 Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst Bach became music director in Minden, near his home town. On Friedrich Wilhelm II's visit to that city in 1788 he composed the cantata Westphalens Freude , which made such an impression on the King that he appointed Bach Kapellmeister and harpsichordist at the court of Queen Friedrike of Prussia in Berlin . In 1797 he assumed a similar post at the court of Queen Luise (in 1795 he had applied unsuccessfully for the professionally more attractive position of Hofkapellmeister at ). He was chiefly responsible for the music training of the Prussian princes until 1811, after which he lived in retirement in

Sonatas and partitas for solo violin (Bach)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   (Redirected from Sonatas and partitas for solo violin Jump to: navigation search First Sonata for Solo Violin: Adagio (Autograph 1720) The Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin BWV 1001–1006) are a set of six works composed by Johann Sebastian Bach . They consist of three sonatas da chiesa , in four movements, and three partitas , in dance-form movements. The set was completed by 1720, but was only published in by Nicolaus Simrock in Bonn . Even after publication, it was largely ignored until the celebrated violinist Josef Joachim started performing these works. Today, Bach's Sonatas and Partitas are an essential part of the violin repertoire, and they are frequently performed and recorded. The Sei Solo – a violino senza Basso accompagnato , as Bach titled them, firmly established the technical capability of the violin as a solo instrument. The pieces often served as an archetype for solo violin pieces for the following generations of composers including Eugène Ysaÿe Béla Bartók , and Paul Hindemith

Biography
When Johann Sebastian Bach became seriously ill in 1750, the oldest surviving son of J. S. and Anna Magdelena took a position at Buckeburg where he remained until his own death. After the Seven Years War Christoph Friedrich gave concerts twice each week including the music of others as his own was not well taken. At court he became friends with Herder and took to writing music for Herder's poems. Though his performing abilities were virtuosic, his composing skills never reached their full potential; however, later works definitively show the influence of both Haydn and Mozart. The majority of Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach's compositions were for keyboard instruments though his oratorio and choral compositions demonstrated an understanding of how a serious work should unfold. ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi Deutsch Italiano Tagalog Search unanswered questions...
