John Field (composer) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation search John Field, c. 1820 John Field (26 July 1782 (?), baptized 5 September 1782 – 23 January 1837) was an Irish pianist composer , and teacher. He was born in Dublin into a musical family, and received his early education there. The Fields soon moved to London, where Field studied under Muzio Clementi . Under his tutelage, Field quickly became a famous and sought-after concert pianist; together, master and pupil visited Paris Vienna , and St. Petersburg . The Russian capital impressed Field so much that he eventually decided to stay behind when Clementi left, and from about 1804 was particularly active in Russia Field was very highly regarded by his contemporaries and his playing and compositions influenced many major composers, including Chopin Brahms Schumann , and Liszt . He is best known today for originating the piano nocturne , a form later made famous by Chopin, as well as for his substantial contribution, through concerts and teaching, to the development of the Russian piano school. Classical Music Home JOHN FIELD To the Irish pianist and composer John Field has been credited the invention of the Nocturne, a form later adopted and developed by Chopin. Field was born in Dublin in 1782, the son of a violinist, but moved with his family to London in 1793, perhaps taking violin lessons from Haydn's friend Salomon. He became an apprentice of Muzio Clementi, appearing in a series of important London concerts, and later touring widely. After concerts in Russia, he remained in St. Petersburg, where he became a fashionable teacher and performer, moving to Moscow in 1821. Illness brought him, in 1831, to London again, a visit followed by a continental tour and a final return to Moscow, where he died in 1837. Piano Music Although Field wrote seven piano concertos and a series of chamber compositions for piano and strings, his chief claim on posterity lies in his eighteen Nocturnes. Once this temperature is attained you proceed with ACLS recognizing that the medications may accumulate and reach toxic levels, so the interval between boluses should be longer than normal. This interval, and the frequency of defibrillation attempts is somewhat empirical, but recusitation attempts should not be stopped until the patient has been rewarmed to normal or near normal temperature. Endotracheal intubation and the placing of other tubes must be done gently, as these patients have a lower fibrillation threshold.

We'll Know When We Get There Thursday, August 06, 2009 Sincerely, John Hughes I was babysitting for my mom's friend Kathleen's daughter the night I wrote that first fan letter to John Hughes. I can literally remember the yellow grid paper, the blue ball point pen and sitting alone in the dim light in the living room, the baby having gone to bed. I poured my heart out to John, told him about how much the movie mattered to me, how it made me feel like he got what it was like to be a teenager and to feel misunderstood. (I felt misunderstood.) I sent the letter and a month or so later I received a package in the mail with a form letter welcoming me as an "official" member of The Breakfast Club, my reward a strip of stickers with the cast in the now famous pose. I was irate. I wrote back to John, explaining in no uncertain terms that, excuse me, I just poured my fucking heart out to you and YOU SENT ME A FORM LETTER. That was just not going to fly. He wrote back. "This is not a form letter. The other one was. Sorry. Lots of requests. You know what I mean. I did sign it." He wrote back and told me that he was sorry, that he liked my letter and that it meant a great deal to him. He loved knowing that his words and images resonated with me and people my age. He told me he would say hi to everyone on my behalf.
