84. Fiber Glass Health Hazard Information Network Home Page
Information on the health hazards of respirable, durable mineral fibers. Victims stories, symptoms, background, identification and clean up tips.
http://www.sustainableenterprises.com/fin/
Health House News Basics ... Resources FIN is dedicated to expanding the general public's knowledge about fiberglass insulation health hazards, and to helping people injured by fiberglass. Use the topic areas, above, to navigate the site. The fiberglass manufacturing industry includes many of the same corporations which created the asbestos tragedy, except now these corporations are larger and operate in many countries. Despite recent bankruptcies, the fiberglass manufacturers retain much wealth, in the form of factories, brand names and distribution channels. Their long fingers reach into universities and medical centers, where their money pays for " research" on the safety of their products. This "research" may sound scientific, but always determines the product cannot be proven hazardous. Often, the study logic deceives. For instance, hamsters held captive in a "nose cone" may not always get cancers when exposed to a fiberglass aerosol, but hamsters cannot breathe through their mouth, as people often do, and their furry little noses actually filter fibers very effectively. Their tiny little lungs have nowhere near the capacity, and generate nowhere near the air velocity, of a human exerting themself, say, when installing insulation or running a cable through a hot attic. Because of its monstrous potential liability, the fiberglass industry can never admit to a sliver of possibility its products cause disease, especially cancer. Any researcher who says otherwise should look for research funding elsewhere.

Exposure science: the bridge between environment
and health
The International Society of Exposure Science (ISES) is committed to creating a safer and healthier world by advancing exposure science and promoting the use of exposure science in the fields of public, occupational, and environmental health. The ISES understands that there is a need for relevant exposure information and the tools to develop exposure information in a timely fashion. Exposure scientists a community known for its interdisciplinary, creative, and pragmatic approach to problem solving are leaders in improving and expanding exposure information. ISES was formerly the International Society of Exposure Analysis (ISEA). Our name change reflects the natural maturation of this young society and its growing prominence as a critical field of science for the management of global public, occupational, and environmental health issues.

Effective October 1, 2007, EPA shifted the management of the TSCA PCB cleanup and disposal regulations to the Office of Resource Conservation and Recovery (ORCR), formerly the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER), the office that regulates hazardous waste management. This shift consolidates most PCB-related cleanup and disposal regulations in ORCR. AB 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is well known for its
immunotoxic effects particularly on the thymus. The exact mechanism by which TCDD induces thymic atrophy is not clear. In the current study, we investigated whether TCDD triggers apoptosis in thymocytes, when administered in vivo, by using the TdT-mediated FITC -dUTP nick end labeling method and analyzing the cell flow cytometrically. Significant apoptosis was detected at 8-12 hr after the TCDD injection but not at 24 hr or beyond, up to 120 hr of study. Furthermore, the induction of apoptosis was confirmed using the JAM test in which thymocytes from TCDD-treated mice, labeled with (3H)
