It started in 1965 after the publication of Lotfi Asker Zadeh 's seminal work Fuzzy sets A fuzzy subset A of a set X is a function A:X→L , where L is the interval [0,1]. My response to that title was that I completely agree. "Nature" did indeed think of it first, and wisely spotted that fluoride was very toxic. That is why "Nature" limits the level of fluoride in mother's milk to 0.01 ppm (parts per million), which is 100 times less than most of the levels at which water is fluoridated in the few "not so bright" countries which continue this foolish practice.
