    Albert Einstein
Where would modern physics be without the genius of Albert Einstein? His work has provided the basis for understanding more of the basic laws of physics. His work on the general theory of relativity remains one of the seminal pieces of thinking about the Universe.
Einstein was born in 1879 in Ulm in Germany, and he began his schooling in munich in 1886. He began to study the violin at age 6 and continued playing through most of his life until his death in 1955.
His love was mathematics, and he began the study of calculus at age 12. He failed an entrance exam that would have enabled him to study for a diploma in electrical engineering at age 16, and decided to devote himself to becoming a teacher of mathematics and physics. He attended a school in Zurich and graduated in 1900. He renounced his German citizenship in 1896, and was granted Swiss citizenship in 1901.
He taught in a series of schools for 2 years, then took a position with the Swiss Patent Office in Bern in 1902, where he remained until 1909. He continued his studies on his own during this time, publishing a number of papers on theoretical physics. He earned his doctorate from the University of Zurich in 1905, writing a thesis entitled “On a new determination of molecular dimensions.”

Did he later politically support the Zionist state of Israel until his death? Popular answers to these questions might be inaccurate. Indeed the answers make up a common MYTH , or at least, a misperception. What? Are we talking about the same Einstein? Did he not identify himself as “a strong devotee of the Zionist idea” in 1929? While addressing a meeting, did he not begin with: “Ten years ago, when I first had the pleasure of addressing you in behalf of the Zionist cause …”? Didn't Einstein deliver a speech entitled “Our Debt to Zionism” in 1938? The answer to all these questions is “yes”. Then, how can it be a myth or misperception? Well, that is the topic of this essay. I only request that conscientious and inquiring minds defer judgment, until they peruse this essay completely.

Biography
German-Swiss-American scientist, a physicist who developed the theory of relativity in 1905, and the general theory in 1916, laying the groundwork for 20th century physics and providing the essential structure of the cosmos. He was awarded the 1922 Nobel Prize for his contributions to theoretical physics, especially for his discovery of the photo-electric effect law. His name has been synonymous with genius, and the scientific definitions of the modern ageranging from the Bomb to space travel, electronics and quantum physics - all bear the stamp of his conceptualizations. Einstein was born with a misshapen head and abnormally large body to Hermann Einstein and Pauline Koch in Ulm, an old city on the Danube, lying in the foothills of the Swabian Alps. In 1880, his father moved to Munich to start an electronics business. He learned to talk so late that his parents feared that he was mentally retarded, not until he was three, and was not fluent until he was nine. For awhile, he was considered subnormal because of his slow development, and his teachers were continually saying that he would never amount to anything. He had begun his education in 1884 at a Catholic school near his home, but in 1889 was transferred from the school to the rigid discipline at Lluitpold Gymnasium. He was kicked out of that school for disrupting class but by the time he was 13 he had read Euclid's geometry and Kant's Critique of Pure Reason, two major influences on him.

ALBERT EINSTEIN T he 20th-century answer to Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein (1879-1955) revolutionized our concepts of space and time and developed the theories used to build models of the universe. He was born in Ulm, Germany, though his family moved to Munich shortly thereafter. He showed little academic promise as a teenager, and didnít begin to make his mark until he moved to Zurich, Switzerland. Working as a patent clerk in Berne in the first years of the new century, he was able to spend his spare time studying physics. Einsteinís great year was 1905, when he produced three papers of tremendous significance. One gave a mathematical description of the random motions of tiny particles. A second described the photoelectric effect, in which electrons are emitted when light falls on certain metals. (Many people are surprised to learn that he won the Nobel Prize for this description and not for his theories of relativity.) The third paper of the year was on special relativity, in which he described the physics of objects moving at constant velocities and discovered the equivalence of mass and energy as related by the equation E=mc . It took Einstein 10 more years to develop his general theory of relativity, which describes the universe as a whole and forms the basis for our understanding of the structure of the universe.
