FIBIGER JOHANNES ANDREAS GRIB
Médecin danois, né à Silkeborg en 1867, mort à Copenhague en 1928, Fibiger porte vite son intérêt sur les maladies infectieuses. Il travaille quelque temps avec Koch et Behring, et soutient en 1895 une thèse de doctorat sur la « Bactériologie de la diphtérie » à l'université de Copenhague. Nommé professeur puis directeur de l'institut d'anatomie pathologique de l'université de Copenhague (1900), il recherche les agents infectieux du cancer. En 1907, Fibiger identifie une tumeur nouvelle dans l'estomac de souris, en notant dans les cellules tumorales la présence systématique d'un ver,  Jugenre Gongylonema  (némathelminthe). L'ingestion de ce ver étant sans effets sur les souris, Fibiger en déduit que l'agent carcinogène est transmis sous une forme différente. En 1913, il retrouve dans une raffinerie de sucre des souris atteintes du même carcinome à spiroptère. L'étude de cette raffinerie, qui présente la particularité d'être infestée de blattes, lui permet de démontrer que ce cancer est indui […] … pour nos abonnés, l'article se prolonge sur 1 page…
