    Moniz, António Caetano de Abreu Freire Egas (1874-1955)
    Médico por Coimbra desde 1898, Prémio Nobel da Medicina em 1949. A dissertação de 1902, A Vida Sexual , tem cerca de duas dezenas de edições até 1932, apesar de só poder ser vendida por receita médica. Catedrático desde 1902, transita para a Faculdade de Medicina de Lisboa, em 1911, como professor de Neurologia. Começa como miltante do partido progressista, sendo deputado por Estarreja em 1900. Alinha em 1905 com a dissidência de José Maria Alpoim. Um dos adesivos ao regime republicano. Deputado desde 1911. Fundador do Partido Centrista, anunciado em 18 de Outubro de 1917. Responsável pela pasta dos negócios estrangeiros, com Sidónio Pais, de 8 de Outubro a 23 de Dezembro de 1918. Ministro dos negócios estrangeiros de Tamagnini Barbosa de 23 de Dezembro de 1918 a 27 de Janeiro de 1919. Ministro dos negócios estrangeiros do governo de José Relvas, em 26 e 27 de Janeiro de 1919. Participa nas primeiras sessões da Conferência de Paz de Versalhes. A partir de 1920 dedica-se inteiramente à investigação científica, inventando a angiografia em 1926 e o processo da leucotomia que lhe dá o Prémio Nobel em 1949. Jubilado em 1935. Assume-se como um dos principais oposicionistas face ao regime salazarista. Chega a ser proposto pelo Partido Republicano e pelo Partido Socialista para candidato à presidência em 1951.
