TISELIUS ARNE WILHELM KAURIN
Physico-chimiste et biochimiste suédois, Arne Tiselius découvrit la nature complexe des protéines du sang et développa l'électrophorèse pour leur étude. À ce titre, il reçut le prix Nobel de chimie en 1948. Tiselius est né à Stockholm le 10 août 1902. Il étudie à l'université d'Uppsala sous la direction de Theodor Svedberg et passe sa thèse de doctorat sur l'électrophorèse en 1924. En 1925, il montre que de nombreuses protéines qui semblent homogènes par ultracentrifugation (technique très largement développée par Svedberg) peuvent être fractionnées par électrophorèse. Il abandonne ensuite ce sujet pendant plusieurs années puis revient à l'électrophorèse des protéines du sérum de cheval et démontre l'existence de trois globulines (α, β et γ). Il invente le développement par déplacement en chromatographie et donne une classification claire des méthodes chromatographiques. Il est décédé à Stockholm le 29 octobre 1971.

Biography
He was born in Stockholm. Following the death of his father, the family moved to Gothenburg where he went to school, and after graduation at the local "Realgymnasium" in 1921, he studied at the University of Uppsala, specializing in chemistry . He became research assistant in The Svedberg's laboratory in 1925 and obtained his doctor's degree in 1930 on the moving-boundary method of studying the electrophoresis of proteins . From then to 1935 he published a number of papers on diffusion and adsorption in naturally occurring base-exchanging zeolites, and these studies were continued during a year's visit to
