Sic
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation search Sic is a Latin word meaning "thus", "so", "as such", or "in such a manner". In writing , it is put in square brackets and italic type sic ] – to show that an incorrect or unusual spelling phrase punctuation , or other quoted material has been copied verbatim (word for word) from the quoted original and is not a error. At first, it was said like the English word "seek" ( IPA /'sik/); however, it is normally said like the English word "sick" (/'sɪk/).
change Usage
The word sic may be used to show that an uncommon or old usage is written faithfully: for instance, quoting the U.S. Constitution
"The House of Representatives shall chuse [ sic ] their Speaker..."
It is often used, though, to highlight an error, sometimes to ridicule, such as here in The Times
Warehouse has been around for 30 years and has 263 stores, suggesting a large fan base. The chain sums up its appeal thus: "styley [ sic ], confident, sexy, glamorous, edgy, clean and individual, with it's [ sic ] finger on the fashion pulse."

Wilson, Kenneth, G. I was born 1936 in Waltham, Massachusetts, the son of E. Bright Wilson Jr. and Emily Buckingham Wilson. My father was on the faculty in the Chemistry Department of Harvard University; my mother had one year of graduate work in physics before her marriage. My grandfather on my mother's side was a professor of mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; my other grandfather was a lawyer, and one time Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives.
In 1962 I went to CERN for a calendar year, first on my Junior Fellowship and then as a Ford Foundation fellow. Mostly, I worked but I found time to join Henry Kendall and James Bjorken on a climb of Mt. Blanc. I spent January through August of 1963 touring Europe.
In September of 1963 I came to Cornell as an Assistant Professor. I received tenure as an Associate Professor in 1965, became Full Professor in 1971 and the James A. Weeks Professor in 1974. I came to Cornell in response to an unsolicited offer I received while at CERN; I accepted the offer because Cornell was a good university, was out in the country and was reputed to have a good folk dancing group, folk-dancing being a hobby I had taken up as a graduate student.
I have remained at Cornell ever since, except for leaves and summer visits: I spent the 1969 - 1970 academic year at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, the spring of 1972 at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, the fall of 1976 at the California Institute of Technology as a Fairchild Scholar, and the academic year 1979 - 80 at the IBM Zürich Laboratory.

Wilson Kenneth G Davis Edwin I Hernandez Year of Publication: Journal Title: Theological Education ISSN: Volume: Issue: Date Name: Start Page: End Page: Abstract: Using data from the National Survey of Hispanic/Latino Theological Education, recommends that accrediting agencies convene alliances of seminaries and theological schools that are publicly committed to increasing the number of their Hispanic students, faculty, and administrators. Suggests that seminaries can expand their pool of students by partnering with Bible and diocesan training institutes, and their pool of faculty by forming alliances with Latino/a professional and educational organizations.

Kenneth George Wilson (1923–2003) was an author, professor of English and vice president at the University of Connecticut . His best-known work is The Columbia Guide to Standard American English , published in 1993. Through the 1970s Wilson served as UConn's vice president for academic programs or academic affairs. With the 1974 change in title, the vice presidency replaced the provost as the university's chief academic office. He had been dean of the university's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences from 1966 to 1970 and head of the English department in 1965-66. "Many of his contemporaries credit Wilson with starting the process of making UConn a nationally respected university," a university press release and the university magazine, Advance, said at the time of his death in 2003. Wilson returned to teaching in 1981 and retired in 1989. He had joined UConn's Storrs campus faculty in 1951 as an instructor and rose to be a full professor. A graduate of Albion College in Albion, Mich., Wilson earned his master's and doctoral degrees from the
