It is a journey you are on ...
The journey is filled with new adventures each day. Along your way, you meet people who love you, and people who challenge you. You confront situations that open new possibilities, or perhaps close old doors. The journey is abundant in sights, sounds, activities... and most of all, emotions. For emotions are the way we measure the effects of our experiences. Often, we get lost in our own journey. We forget why we took the first step. We become confused about how to get back on the path we originally intended. In these times, the guidance of a trained facilitator can help get you back in balance... back to the ability to find joy and rewards in each new day. Are you ready to LOVE deeper
into the RICHNESS of who YOU really are?

Clinical and Counseling Psychology - A Career Profile
A Brief Synopsis of a Clinical or Counseling Psychologist's Duties
Clinical and counseling psychologists work with individuals of all ages and cultural backgrounds in an effort to understand and treat a wide variety of psychological issues. Whereas clinical psychology focuses on the analysis of and treatment for certain severe psychological dysfunctions within the human brain, counseling psychology focuses more on alleviating the stress from common disorders that hinder selected individuals from leading normal lives. In recent years, clinical psychology and counseling psychology have come to be viewed as inseparable doctrines by some experts in the field. A clinical or counseling psychologist might find work in private practices, academic environments and, also, hospitals. These varied settings, combined with the diverse nature of psychological problems from every patient, make the day-to-day responsibilities of each clinical or counseling psychologist very different from one another.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN CLINICAL AND COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY
Author: Dr. Bhrigunath Singh Clinical and counseling chologists deal with the causes, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with psychological problems. These problems vary considerably as to their degree of severity. Although very similar, clinical and counseling psychologists differ with respect to the disorders of the patients they treat. Typically, clinical psychologists treat more severe disorders, such as phobias, bipolar disorder, and schizo-phrenia. On the other hand, counseling psychologists work with patients suffering from everyday stresses, including career planning, academic performance, and marriage and family difficulties. Clinical and counseling psy-chologists can be found working in individual practices, schools, colleges and universities, hospitals, and other mental health facilities. The particular method of therapy utilized by each clinical and counseling psychologist is often influenced by the theoretical orientation they adhere to. There are a total of over 200 theoretical orientations, each providing a different explanation behind the causes of psychological disorders and their appropriate treatments. Some orientations are more popular than others; however, most psychologists integrate two or more into their therapy. Furthermore, some theoretical orientations are better at explaining and treating certain disorders more than others. Regardless of their orientation preference, clinical and counseling psychologists are trained to assist a variety of individuals and their emotional difficulties.

Clinical and Counseling Psychology: Can Differences Be Gleaned From Pr... Edit Clinical and Counseling Psychology: Can Differences Be Gleaned From Printed Recruiting Materials? Robert D. Morgan Lee M. Cohen Students and professionals alike often ask, "What is the difference between clinical and counseling psychology?" An even more basic question for educators and trainers is, "Are students accurately informed of the differences between the two specialties?" To address this question, we examined recruitment and application materials from 227 APA-accredited doctoral programs in counseling psy- chology (CoPhD, n 56), clinical psychology PhD (ClPhD, n 137), and clinical psychology PsyD (ClPsyD, n 34). It should be noted that 83% of both clinical and counseling psychology programs, respectively, were represented in the data. An eight-page coding instrument was used to examine similarities and dissimilarities between each discipline. The results of this study suggest few differences in program or faculty characteristics, student and faculty demographics, or admission and training requirements, as advertised in program recruitment materials. Implications of these findings are discussed and directions for future research are presented. View or Download
