64. Educational Psychologist
Lists the core behaviours associated with the condition and offers the ability to locate and contact chartered educational psychologists in the UK for further advice.
http://www.educational-psychologist.co.uk/autismcklist.htm
Autism checklist
The diagnosis of Autism is a very skilled task, which should be undertaken with the utmost sensitivity. Please remember it is very easy to go down the wrong path with home-based diagnosis. As with the other checklists provide on this site, use the list to see if the child “fits”, if they don’t then the difficulty probably isn’t Autism. Although it is crucial that you bear in mind that Autism is a spectrum disorder. Which means that it is a very, very broad church. The diagnosis encompasses a huge array of difference between individual cases. The behaviours listed would normally be expected to be present across social contexts and thus be present in contexts where they are quite inappropriate, taking into account the age of the child. If the following checklist seems to provide a good “fit” then it would probably be wise to seek a referral to specialist who can clarify the situation and provide a professional diagnosis. It is crucial that the difference between a diagnosis, which is very broad, and a successful teaching approach, which is very specific and individual, is appreciated. Diagnosis does help in so far as we know from previous experience that certain general approaches to Autistic children are very effective. However, as every Autistic child is different they will need the way they are taught adjusted to suit them. This can only be achieved by thoughtful and reflective teaching. The role of the psychologist is to promote that process and bring into the loop an array of ideas and strategies to help enhance learning opportunities.

Counselling Psychology in Ipswich, Suffolk, East Anglia
When life gets tough and you need somebody to talk to, there's a bewildering array of counsellors, psychologists and psychotherapists out there with qualifications you may never have heard of and no way of knowing who to trust.
And you want to be sure that the counsellor or psychologist you choose
will respect your confidence.
That they won't judge you or condemn you.
And that they won't be shocked
Or preach at you
Or tell you what to do
Or interfere in your life
And that they will be as honest as possible
And know what helps and what doesn't
Quite often you will choose to talk to someone you love and respect, a friend or someone in your family But just sometimes.....
  • You need someone who's completely independent of your life.
  • Who's a professionally qualified counsellor, psychologist or psychotherapist so you know they know what they're doing
  • And who's experienced enough to feel safe to be with.

A Brief Biography of Jean Piaget
Text and images provided courtesy of the Archives Jean Piaget
    Jean Piaget (1896-1980)
His interest for mollusks was developed during his late adolescence to the point that he became a well-known malacologist by finishing school. He published many papers in the field that remained of interest for him all along his life. His researches in developmental psychology and genetic epistemology had one unique goal: how does knowledge grow? His answer is that the growth of knowledge is a progressive construction of logically embedded structures superseding one another by a process of inclusion of lower less powerful logical means into higher and more powerful ones up to adulthood. Therefore, children's logic and modes of thinking are initially entirely different from those of adults. Piaget's oeuvre is known all over the world and is still an inspiration in fields like psychology, sociology, education, epistemology, economics and law as witnessed in the annual catalogues of the Jean Piaget Archives. He was awarded numerous prizes and honorary degrees all over the world.
