The Program for Psychology and Religion serves the psychological, medical and spiritual needs of the clergy and religious from many parts of the world. For more than a decade, the Program has offered effective systems of evaluating clients and suggesting directions for the psychological and social aspects of formation, treatment, and future growth of candidates and religious professionals. The Program offers intensive outpatient treatment programs for religious professionals for psychological and spiritual growth and for weight management. Each client is given a thorough clinical assessment before beginning the program. Candidate assessments are also offered for persons entering seminaries, religious life, or ordination programs. The Program for Psychology and Religion offers outpatient treatment. Although treatment as an outpatient is not possible for some persons, it is clearly an option, and perhaps optimal, for most. Outpatient treatment is remarkably less costly than either inpatient or residential care. The Program for Psychology and Religion is not a single treatment program applied equally to all. The discerning consumer will find that, contrary to most outpatient centers, the Program is a collection of persons, materials and treatment options that can be combined in various ways to meet the particular needs of each individual. The design of individual programs begins with careful assessment.

30. Psychology And Religion
Offers David Myers articles and books relating psychological science and religion.
http://www.davidmyers.org/religion
Books Chapters Journal Articles Magazine Articles ... Prayer Experiments Resources on Psychology and Faith David's contribution to dialogue between psychology and religion reflects his perspective as a participant in mainstream psychological science and as a person of faith. He has danced on the science-faith boundary by:
  • explaining to people of faith the value of psychological science documenting for social scientists some interesting links between faith and personal and social well-being comparing big ideas about human nature found in both psychological research and biblical and theological literatures.
For an overview, see Psychology Through the Eyes of Faith , revised edition (HarperSanFrancisco, 2002, co-authored by British cognitive neuroscientist Malcolm Jeeves). This paperback offers 32 short essays that offer introductory level faith-informed reflections on all the major areas of psychological science. For a much briefer overview, see David's 2005 essay in the APS Observer or 2006 interview in David's new little book, A Friendly Letter to Skeptics and Atheists, Musings on Why God is Good, and Faith Isn't Evil

Skip to content Wheaton College Norton, Massachusetts
David Wulff
Professor of Psychology Faculty Degrees Ph.D., University of Michigan
B.A., Wittenberg University
Th.D.(honorary), Lund University, Sweden Main Interests Personality psychology (including theories of personality and methods of assessment); psychology of religion (history, theories, research methods, and philosophical issues); phenomenology of everyday experiences. Research Interests My published scholarly work is mainly in the psychology of religion, including my book, Psychology of Religion: Classic and Contemporary (2nd edition; Wiley, 1997). Current projects include: the editing of a handbook of the psychology of religion for Oxford University Press; the development of the Faith Q-Sort, a device for assessing a wide variety of "faith" positions, ranging from indifference or even hostility toward religion or spirituality to strongly favorable attitudes, both conservative and liberal; narrative analysis of becoming an agnostic or atheist; a book tentatively entitled "Contemporary Foundations for the Psychology of Religion: A Critical Reappraisal," contracted with APA Books; and a book on the mind of the religious conservative, based on my 2007 Edward Cadbury Lectures at the University of Birmingham, England. Teaching Interests In most of my courses, from Introductory Psychology to Laboratory in Qualitative Research, I accent the wide range of perspectives that make up contemporary psychology, from the rigorously scientific approaches at one end of the spectrum to the qualitative-interpretive approaches at the other. My course in the psychology of religion likewise represents a diversity of views. But one of my courses is entirely given over to descriptive-interpretive perspectives: "Experiencing: The Phenomenology of Everyday Life" is a study of phenomenological psychology as it may be applied to a variety of everyday experiencesincluding reading and writing, driving a car, and occupying a hotel roomas well as to experiences that are foreign to most of us, such as being autistic or totally paralyzed.
