I recently wrote a beginners guide to social news websites and this article follows up on that by offering a list of the social news websites you can use to get information and web traffic. There are a great deal of social news sites on the internet, sometimes too many. Most of them are dormant and are no longer active, largely because they were poorly marketed and hence, never had an active community of users in the first place. Each site on this list is evaluated according to various criteria, including the no. of votes for each story and the frequency/date of submissions, all of which are indicators of user/viewer activity. This list is not meant to be comprehensive General Social News or websites which cover a wide variety of news and Niche Social News which refers to specialized sites that only focus on a limited range of niche topics.

Looking beyond Social CRM
by Michael Brito View Comments Tweet Yes, it’s a big deal. Yes, we live in a society where social customers are engaging with brands on the web. And, while Social CRM is a buzzword cited day in and day out by industry pundits arguing about its definition, I do believe that it’s needs to be top of mind for organizations who take customer relationship management serious. But there is bigger challenge that needs to be addressed first. Once upon a time I used to work for a brand. A few of them actually; and I have learned a few things along the way. Imagine for a second trying to get an IT manager, customer support manager, a sales engineer and a marketing manager all together in one conference room to meet for one hour. Then try to imagine all of them walking out of that meeting, shaking hands, and agreeing on working together on a CRM project. Good luck with that. Now, I am usually optimistic about situations like this so despite the organizational silos that exist in business today, lack of communication and collaboration, employee anarchy and random chaos, function conflict, ownership challenges, confusion in roles and responsibilities; lack of training, governance and integration – there is still hope. He was joined by Dennis Crowley, cofounder of Foursquare ; David Karp, founder of Tumblr ; and author Clay Shirky Cognitive Surplus: Creativity and Generosity in a Connected Age , describes the Internet as a huge, supply side ship. Large scale projects, such as Wikipedia and Linux , are the results of coordinated volunteers contributing their surfeit of talent to common goals. (In contrast, both Crowley and Karp felt that the lack of good developers was holding their respective companies.)     What is Dhammic Socialism?
    Dhammic:
    For anything to succeed in this natural world it must harmonize with, be in line with Dhamma, follow from and serve, the Law of Nature. Anything that fits with, conforms to, follows from, and serves the Law of Nature is "Dhammic."
    To be Dhammic is to be non-violent, unselfish, compassionate, mindful, and cool. Ajarn Buddhadasa summarized it in two words "peaceful" and "useful."
    Being "peaceful" means doing nothing to hurt, harm, exploit, abuse, or oppress anyone, whether others of oneself. Such peacefulness requires a heart-mind free of selfishness and egoism.
    Being "useful" means helping in the struggle for genuine liberation from suffering, no mater on what level or in what area of life. True Dhamma does not concoct dualities likes "personal-social" or "worldly-spiritual."
    Socialism:
    Don't believe that socialism is dead! This is just the materialist propaganda of neo-conservative diehard capitalists. Real socialism has never been tried on a large scale.
    Socialism is the perspective and orientation that takes the good of society as a whole as central, rather than one's personal, individualistic good as all important. Thus, socialism is the opposite of the individualism with which we are brainwashed today.
