MESHBOUND is LEC’s in-house developed multiblock, structured, grid generator. The grid generation procedure, within MESHBOUND, is an automated 5-step process. First spanwise cuts of a blade are used to define a single row, single pitch computational domain. Then two-dimensional, non-uniform, rational B-splines are used to mesh the computational boundaries. Based on the specified grid topology, sets of geometrical transformations are next used to define the interior block boundaries. Nonlinear interpolation algorithms with flexibly specified clustering and two-dimensional Poisson-type elliptic partial differential equations are then used to mesh the interior of each block. Finally, a 3D mesh of a multi row, multi pitch setup can be arranged from the single row, single pitch 3D mesh. MESHBOUND has a modular and flexible structure. Thus several enhancements have been readily incorporated into the grid generator package. Recent enhancements include mesh adaptation for film cooling holes, for non-uniform contoured end walls and/or for radius fillets on blades.
