As classical as the subject is, it is currently undergoing a very vigorous development, interacting strongly with theoretical physics, mechanics, topology, algebraic geometry, symplectic topology, partial differential equations, the calculus of variations, integrable systems, and many other subjects. The five main topics on which we propose to concentrate the program are areas that have shown considerable growth in the last ten years:
      • Complex geometry, calibrated geometries and special holonomy

      Title: Noncommutative Geometry for Pedestrians
Authors: J. Madore (Submitted on 16 Jun 1999 ( ), last revised 25 Jul 1999 (this version, v2)) Abstract: A short historical review is made of some recent literature in the field of noncommutative geometry, especially the efforts to add a gravitational field to noncommutative models of space-time and to use it as an ultraviolet regulator. An extensive bibliography has been added containing reference to recent review articles as well as to part of the original literature. Geometric Analysis arises from the interaction of Geometry and Partial Differential Equations. Its applications cover Riemannian geometry, Topology, Complex Analysis, Physics (General Relativity) and Crystallography, among other areas. This powerful tool has been used in the resolution of deep classical problems. For instance, recently Perelman has used the Ricci Flow in order to solve Poincaré's Conjecture. The research project Geometric Analysis is supported by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (MTM2007-61775, 2007-2012).

    80. Differential Geometry – Study Of Geometry Of Curves, Surfaces & Manifolds
Differential geometry is a branch of math defining the relationship between points. Get a detailed insight on the importance use of differential geometry in different fields.
    http://www.geometry-formulas.com/differential.html
Differential Geometry can be defined as a branch of mathematics concerned with the properties of and relationships between points, lines, planes, and figures and with generalizations of these concepts. It is a discipline that uses the methods of differential and integral calculus, as well as linear and multilinear algebra, to study problems in geometry.
Differential geometry was founded by Gaspard Monge and C. F. Gauss in the beginning of the 19th century. Important contributions were made by many mathematicians in the later part of the 19th century, including B. Riemann, E. B. Christoffel, and C. G. Ricci. This work was collected and systematized at the end of the century by J. G. Darboux and Luigi Bianchi.
Differential Geometry has wide scope of functioning. It can be used in Physics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering and Structural Geology. The importance of differential geometry may be seen from the fact that Einstein's general theory of relativity, physical theory, introduced by Albert Einstein, that discards the concept of absolute motion and instead treats only relative motion between two systems or frames of reference.
