ew sequencing technologies have both increased the rate of DNA sequence production and decreased the cost. Because of this, large amounts of new sequence are being generated, providing a wealth of data to be mined for information. Classical methods of single gene expression analysis cannot begin to keep up with this flood of new data. Genome-wide functional analysis is a burgeoning area of research focused on understanding global patterns of gene expression in an organism. One of the projects using the Microarrayer and Scanner involves the arraying of ESTs, or Expressed Sequence Tags, from the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana . In the pilot experiments, ~1500 separate DNA samples are spotted onto glass slides with the Microarrayer; these spots are arrayed in less than a square centimeter. The slides are then hybridized with fluorescently labeled cDNA probes made from RNA isolated from different plant tissues or from different stages of development. Differential gene expression of the entire array of samples can be assessed at once, providing a powerful analytical tool for understanding regulatory networks involved in the life of an organism.

    Project Summary
Sequence-specific DNA-binding proteins containing the novel WRKY zinc finger motifs are a recently identified superfamily of transcription factors found only in plants. The few cases where functional studies are conducted indicate that WRKY proteins play important roles in various biological processes unique to plants, including disease resistance, senescence, seed germination and trichome development. This project is aimed at determining the functions of 72 identified Arabidopsis WRKY genes at three different levels. First, the expression patterns of the Arabidopsis WRKY genes will be determined during plant growth, development and responses to biotic and abiotic stress conditions. Secondly, both loss-of-function mutants (RNAi and knockout mutants) and constitutive expressing gain-of- function mutants for the WRKY genes will be produced and analyzed for altered phenotypes in growth, development and responses to environmental conditions. Thirdly, interacting proteins for all expressed Arabidopsis WRKY proteins will be identified in order to understand the molecular mechanisms by which individual WRKY proteins achieve their in vivo regulatory specificity. Progress in these studies will lead to a comprehensive understanding of the biological functions and molecular activities of plant WRKY proteins. These studies will also provide general tools and approaches useful for functional analysis of large gene families, particularly those encoding DNA-binding transcription factors. The knowledge obtained from the project will enhance our understanding of the molecular basis for various important plant biological processes in which WRKY proteins are involved and provide potential targets for improving important agronomic traits in crop plants.

    Welcome to QuantumSoft
This is the home page of QuantumSoft, the developers of pro Fit. Here we provide information about pro Fit, the complete pro Fit package for download and purchase, and several user-support material for existing pro Fit users. pro Fit is a Macintosh (Mac OS) application for data/function analysis, plotting, and curve fitting. It is used by scientists and engineers to analyze their measurements and the mathematical models they use to describe them. Scientists or students can define any mathematical function and use it to model their data, finding by linear or nonlinear curve fitting the function parameters that best describe their observations. Moreover, they can use a number of tools for the mathematical and statistical analysis of functions and data sets, and they can produce esthetically pleasing graphical representations for their scientific reports.

Welcome to Oaks Child Psychology provided by Dr Katie Adolphus, Chartered Clinical Psychologist. I have been working with children and families in the NHS since 1995 and qualified as a Doctor of Clinical Psychology in 1999. In that time I have seen children and families with a wide range of concerns and difficulties at a number of locations including Great Ormond Street Hospital. I have also developed and co-ordinated services for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and their families. Please see About Me section for more information about my experience. In my work I put the child first, whilst always considering the needs of the family as a whole. I work using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Family Therapy perspectives. I also use Functional Analysis techniques. I offer individual and family appointments. I am also able to liaise with your child’s school if, after discussion, we feel it may be helpful. When your child faces developmental, behavioural or emotional difficulties, it can be very concerning. I treat all the children and families I see with respect and without judgement. I endeavour to make sure that the work we do together is as effective as possible.

Welcome to the Institute of Experimental Genetics (IEG)
The Institute of Experimental Genetics (IEG) has long-standing and leading expertise in phenotype driven generation of mouse models using chemical mutagenesis and sensitised screens [1, 2]. Large-scale mutagenesis projects are embedded in international initiatives to coordinate and support the functional analysis of all mammalian genes (EUCOMM) . The German Mouse Clinic (GMC) at the IEG was established as an open platform for the systemic and standardised phenotyping of mouse lines as models for human diseases. The interdisciplinary institution is a collaboration of experts from the GSF together with research groups from the whole of Germany. Protocols for the analysis of over 320 parameters in 14 disease areas [3] have been developed herein. Within the EUMORPHIA consortium the IEG contributed to the development of standards for the description of phenotypes. The methods have been evaluated at multiple sites across Europe and made publicly available [4]. In particular, the IEG applied the integration of multiple level data for comparative analyses of transcriptomes, proteomes and metabolomes of mouse models [5] and for complex phenotype data from the GMC (e.g.
