Quantum theory evolved as a new branch of theoretical physics during the first few decades of the 20th century in an endeavour to understand the fundamental properties of matter. It began with the study of the interactions of matter and radiation. Certain radiation effects could neither be explained by classical mechanics, nor by the theory of electromagnetism. In particular, physicists were puzzled by the nature of light. Peculiar lines in the spectrum of sunlight had been discovered earlier by Joseph von Fraunhofer (1787-1826). These spectral lines were then systematically catalogued for various substances, yet nobody could explain why the spectral lines are there and why they would differ for each substance. It took about one hundred years, until a plausible explanation was supplied by quantum theory. Quantum theory is about the nature of matter. In contrast to Einstein's Relativity, which is about the largest things in the universe, quantum theory deals with the tiniest things we know, the particles that atoms are made of, which we call "subatomic" particles. In contrast to Relativity, quantum theory was not the work of one individual, but the collaborative effort of some of the most brilliant physicists of the 20th century, among them Niels Bohr, Erwin Schrödinger, Wolfgang Pauli, and Max Born. Two names clearly stand out: Max Planck (1858-1947) and Werner Heisenberg (1901-1976). Planck is recognised as the originator of the quantum theory, while Heisenberg formulated one of the most eminent laws of quantum theory, the Uncertainty Principle, which is occasionally also referred to as the principle of indeterminacy.

Why do we need Quantum Theory?
Classical (Newtonian) mechanics works perfectly in explaining the world around us, and is accurate enough for even charting the trajectory of probes sent to Jupiter and beyond. So why are we not content with classical physics? Where does the need for quantum theory arise? Quantum theory unveils a new level of reality, the world of intrinsic uncertainty, a world of possibilities, which is totally absent in classical physics. And this bizarre world of quantum physics not only offers us the most compelling explanation of physical phenomena presently known, but is also one of the most prolific source of modern technologies, providing society with a cornucopia of devices and instruments.

Quantum Theory
Many years have passed since the world war inflicted catastrophic damage on the human race, leaving only a few survivors. In their new community Cocoon, life has been threatened by a black material called Erosion, creating a post-apocalyptic environment. Surviving humans recruit a militia to conquer the Erosion and set out to take down the evil, Living Tower. Arriving at the scene is the stalwart warrior Syd, whose only intentions are to destroy the Tower. He meets the beautiful and mysterious Filena as they both ascend to the top in their search for answers.

Electronic Structure of Atoms Quantum Theory 1. Atoms and molecules can only exist in certain states characterized by definite amounts of energy. When an atom or molecule changes its state, it absorbs or emits an amount of energy (electromagnetic radiation) just sufficient to bring it to another state. Electronic energy
  • -form of energy that arises from the motion of e about the nucleus, and from the interactions among the e and between the e and the nucleus.
  • only certain values of electronic energy are allowed for an atom
  • said to be quantized
  • a change of electronic energy level (state) of an atom involves the absorption or emission of a definite amount, quantum, of energy
  • lowest electronic energy state is called the ground state
  • any state with energy greater than that of the ground state is an excited state
2. When atoms or molecules absorb or emit light in moving from one energy state to another, the wavelength of the light is related to the energies of the two states by the equation E final - E initial = hc/ l
    h = Planck's constant c = speed of light
  • ray of light can be considered to consist of photons
  • each photon of wavelength has an energy of hc/ l
  • an atom or molecule can move from one electronic energy state to another by absorbing or emitting a photon of energy
  • if it absorbs a photon of energy

Quantum Theory
1 Part Gears, Nine Parts Crap By Ryan Chapman Posted October 8, 2010 Developed in house by Japanese publisher Tecmo, Quantum Theory is a third person shooter that has a frightening number of similarities to the design and gameplay style of the Gears of War series. The narrative puts the player in control of Syd, a steroid injected pile of muscles that’s fighting to save the human race from alien material. Sound familiar? Syd is taking on what the developers call “Living Towers” that are polluting the environment and making the planet uninhabitable for humanity. Syd has the help of a female warrior by the name of Felina and they must work together to halt the progress of the Living Towers. The presentation can be very confusing at times and there’s not much of a conclusion to the storyline. I’m guessing that Tecmo thought this game would spawn a sequel or perhaps a series. As stated previously, if you played Gears, you will be right at home at first. You stay in third person view of Syd and move him between cover spots while taking out the enemies with a barrage of bullets. Also like Gears, the control scheme is nearly identical. You can dive and roll out of the way, sprint to new locations and reload your weapons on the fly. Idiotically, the developers didn’t put enough cover areas in the game to even matter, thus you are forced into a terrible run and gun stance through 80 to 90 percent of the campaign. Either you are sprinting away from enemy fire or rolling around on the ground like a buffoon attempting to roll your way to safety. If only they included a jump button, then you could bunny hop your way back into the days of Quake.

QUANTUM THEORY, also quantum mechanics, in physics, a theory based on using the concept of the quantum unit to describe the dynamic properties of subatomic particles and the interactions of matter and radiation. The foundation was laid by the German physicist Max Planck, who postulated in 1900 that energy can be emitted or absorbed by matter only in small, discrete units called quanta. Also fundamental to the development of quantum mechanics was the uncertainty principle , formulated by the German physicist Werner Heisenberg in 1927, which states that the position and momentum of a subatomic particle cannot be specified simultaneously.
Early History In the 18th and 19th centuries, Newtonian, or classical, mechanics appeared to provide a wholly accurate description of the motions of bodies-such as, for example, planetary motion. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, however, experimental findings raised doubts about the completeness of Newtonian theory. Among the newer observations were the lines that appear in the spectra of light emitted by heated gases, or gases in which electric discharges take place. From the model of the atom developed in the early 20th century by the English physicist Ernest Rutherford, in which negatively charged electrons circle a positive nucleus in orbits prescribed by Newton's laws of motion, scientists had also expected that the electrons would emit light over a broad frequency range, rather than in the narrow frequency ranges that form the lines in a
