Owatonna Clear Dark Sky Report

The club tries having viewing night each month during a period close to the New Moon, to provide for a darker sky. A viewing night may become cancelled when the Dark Sky report projects a 1/5 to 2/5 seeing condition, which is bad or poor. See the Owatonna Clear Dark Sky Report for viewing conditions related to our viewing night. - Dennis Hollatz

Backyard Amateur Astronomy from N50.49 E3.16 - Astrophotography by Xavier Debeerst
Category Albums Files Backyard Amateur Astronomy We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time. . . .

Astrophotography

After 20 years of occasional observing I took up again my passion. Necessity creates possibilities: discovering the unexepted possibilities of my equipment is a creative exploration of the mind. Not the scope is goal but observing as much as possible. xavier@debeerst.com Xavier Debeerst Historical Astrophotography Astrophotography was one of the first photographic subjects. Photography needed to help astronomers to find answers to some basic questions: is there life on the Moon, how much stars are there and how big is the Universe. In 2006 I organized a photo exhibition called "Who's afraid of the Dark?" with a lot of unique astrophotos. In this section you can find a selection of this exhibition.

At 6:15 the night of the General Meeting Comets and Asteroids Can't get enough of comets and asteroids! Especially with a comet that is a great "faint fuzzy" to look for. Comet Hartley 2 will be at it's brightest on the 20th, but is visible with instruments if you get out of town and get under a darker sky. Want to become a Member?
