Bacterial Flagellum Falsifies Evolutionary Theory
When considering the assembly process involved in the bacterial flagellum, there exists a sequence that must be followed for successful assembly. There are three groups of genes labeled Class I, Class II, and Class III which must be assembled in order. The Major Program
The Animal Biology major offers students training in the biological and natural sciences as they apply to animals. The major covers the basic biological sciences that explain animal evolution, systematics, ecology, physiology and molecular biology. Students are not restricted to the study of a particular group of animals. Emphasis is on biological principles that can be used in research or in solving societal problems associated with animals in agriculture, urban areas, or natural environments. The Program. The Animal Biology major consists of core courses in the biological sciences that build an understanding of animal biology from the molecular to the ecological and evolutionary levels of organization. After completing these core courses, students have the option of specializing in various interdisciplinary aspects of animal biology, and plan their chosen emphasis of study as part of a required discussion course and in consultation with their adviser. The Animal Biology major emphasizes courses on biological principles as opposed to courses on animal care and husbandry. This program includes a senior thesis, which each student designs to bridge the disciplines of the major. Internships and Career Alternatives.

    MSc Wild Animal Biology
    Why an RVC Masters/Diploma?
Unfortunately, the course is now full for September 2010; we will consider applications for September 2011 from October 2010. Wild animal health has become increasingly popular amongst non-veterinarians with a first degree in zoology and biology. Recognising this, the RVC, together with the Institute of Zoology, London have developed a unique course, aimed at non-veterinary biological science graduates and leading to the MSc in Wild Animal Biology. This unique course provides practical exposure to wild animal species and an understanding of their health and welfare as well as providing training in research methodologies relevant to the study of wildlife. Participants benefit from working and studying alongside veterinary graduates taking the MSc in Wild Animal Health as well as learning from internationally renowned experts in their field. More information about RVC Masters/Diplomas can be found in the relevant parts of the Postgraduate Prospectus , in particular:

      Animal Biology Group
Welcome to the Animal Biology group. Our research focuses on several aspects of dolphins and whales: sound production mechanisms, hearing and echo-location, behavior and communication, reproduction in human care, and finally passive acoustic monitoring of harbor porpoises in the wild. We also do research on the mitigation of conflicts between coastal fisheries and seals. The work on the hearing in dolphins and whales employs serial CT-scanning in combination with finite element modeling to reveal the sound pathway into and function of the inner ear. This is done in collaboration with San Diego State University, USA and University of California at San Diego, USA.
