The name "artificial intelligence" covers a lot of disparate problem areas, united mainly by the fact that they involve complex inputs and outputs that are difficult to compute (or even check for correctness when supplied). One of the most interesting such areas is sensor-controlled behavior, in which a machine acts in the real world using information gathered from sensors such as sonars and cameras. This is a major focus of A.I. research at Yale. Research in this area at Yale is carried out by the Center for Computational Vision and Control, a joint effort of the Departments of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Radiology. We will describe three of the ongoing projects in this area.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the key technology in many of today's novel applications, ranging from banking systems that detect attempted credit card fraud, to telephone systems that understand speech, to software systems that notice when you're having problems and offer appropriate advice. These technologies would not exist today without the sustained federal support of fundamental AI research over the past three decades. Although there are some fairly pure applications of AI such as industrial robots, or the Intellipath TM
  • Autonomous vehicles: A DARPA-funded onboard computer system from Carnegie Mellon University drove a van all but 52 of the 2849 miles from Washington, DC to San Diego, averaging 63 miles per hour day and night, rain or shine;
  • Computer chess: Deep Blue , a chess computer built by IBM researchers, defeated world champion Gary Kasparov in a landmark performance;
  • Mathematical theorem proving: A computer system at Argonne National Laboratories proved a long-standing mathematical conjecture about algebra using a method that would be considered creative if done by humans;

    Overview:
    There must be a pretty good chance that AI really will happen in the 21st Century. Factasia wants a piece of the action. What is Intelligence? By a way of clarifying the scope of the field and identifying the particular interests of Factasia, we seek a definition of intelligence which is not homo-centric. There are many rich connections between philosophy and AI, particularly between analytic philosophy and logical AI. This extravagent label covers Factasia's interest in the AI project of the (next!) millenium. The world transformed by the evolution of intelligence in cyberspace. Automation of deductive reasoning is the subdomain of AI of greatest interest to Factasia. Crystal clear problems, widespread applications. Mathematics provides the most complex applications of deductive reasoning and is therefore a testbed for the automation of reasoning. Here we consider the transition from powerful but non-intelligent programs to intelligent mechanised mathematics. Topography
    Factasia's architecture for AI places pure logic at the centre of it all.

    Applications of Artificial Intelligence
    Applications of artificial intelligence (AI) are a convergence of cutting edge research in computer science and robotics. The goal is to create smart machines, that can perform complex tasks on their own. Application of artificial intelligence is possible in every field, where intelligent analysis, precision and automation is necessary. What is Artificial Intelligence?
    Intelligence is the ability to think, to imagine, to create, memorize, understand, recognize patterns, make choices, adapt to change and learn from experience. Artificial intelligence is a human endeavor to create a non-organic machine-based entity, that has all the above abilities of natural organic intelligence. Hence it is called as 'Artificial Intelligence' (AI).
    It is the ultimate challenge for an intelligence, to create an equal, another intelligent being. It is the ultimate form of art, where the artist's creation, not only inherits the impressions of his thoughts, but also his ability to think!
    How will one recognize artificial intelligence ? According to Alan Turing, if you question a human and an artificially intelligent being and if by their answers, you can't recognize which is the artificial one, then you have succeeded in creating artificial intelligence. Initial hopes of computer scientists of creating an artificial intelligence, were dashed hopelessly as they realized how much they had underrated the human mind's capabilities!

    Review
    This L.A. trio dispenses with the obvious genealogical question in the opening moments of "Bottoms Up," on which the left-hand keyboard bass of Pablo Manzarek confirms that, yes, his father is Doors co-founder Ray Manzarek . Once that's out of the way, A.I. tears through a selection of tunes whose modern, eclectic character makes only the barest nod toward spacy retro-psychedelia. In fact, there's very little space in these performances: Zack Young's drums are dry, tight, and usually quite busy, while brother Nick Young douses his steamy solos with buckets of echo, wah, and other effects. They zigzag through a postmodern musical minefield on just one cut, "Forever," tagging reggae, house, and, in the guitar break, Carlos Santana in quick sequence. Nick Young's singing underscores this impression of scattered direction and dense energy: He does Michael Jackson-like squeals, lapses into hipstah jargon, jumps from
