Current Activities and Interests
I am the founder and director of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory , and a professor in the EPFL Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences . My research interest is in Artificial Intelligence, in particular in the following areas:
  • Software Agents and multi-agent systems Constraint-based reasoning Intelligent User Interfaces
Besides teaching and research at EPFL, I serve or served the AI community as associate editor of several journals, in particular the AI Journal (2000-2008), JAIR (2004-2007), Annals of AI and Mathematics (2008-today), and as member of editorial boards (AI Communications, AI Magazine, Constraints, and others). I also regularly participate in conference committees (IJCAI, AAAI, ECAI, and others) and have been program (co-)chair of several workshops and conferences, recently including CSCLP (2004), 2nd and 7th IEEE/ACM Conference on Intelligent Agent Technology (2003 and 2008), 2nd PAIS (2002), 7th International Symposium on AI and Mathematics (2002), and the IFIP Conference on Intelligent Information Systems (2000).

Join the AI Game Programmers Guild! If you are a professional game AI developer with at least one published commercial title, then you can become a member of the AI Game Programmers Guild (it's free). The guild has over 80 members and is a great place to discuss game AI with the best in the business. We just organized the 2-day AI Summit at GDC 2009 and we're planning more events and activites. Just e-mail Steve Rabin with your credentials to join. Click on this "Contact" link to get the e-mail address.
