We have developed programmes that, through project work with business and industry, offer you the additional benefit of real-world scientific exposure. What is Cybernetics? Cybernetics deals with all types of systems and their control. These may be technological systems as in robots, biological systems as in the control of human body temperatures, or environmental systems, as illustrated by the Gaia Hypothesis which states that the Earth itself is a self-regulating cybernetic system. Its study brings together several academic disciplines and spans subjects such as robotic systems, biomedical engineering, computer science, information technology and engineering. It also addresses many 'futuristic' subjects such as Autonomous Robots, Artificial Intelligence, Terahertz and Virtual Reality and groups together a range of technologies required by modern industry and society. Although these technologies may change rapidly, the underlying principles do not and it is these that are emphasised in our programmes. Principia Cybernetica Electronic Library This electronic library provides free, downloadable copies of basic books on cybernetics and systems science. There are relatively few good books on the domain of cybernetics and systems . Moreover, many of those books are out of print, and therefore difficult to find. As part of the Principia Cybernetica mission of making cybernetics and systems thinking better known, we have decided to republish some of these books electronically, so that everybody can profit from their ideas.
